IOE MOAKLEY OF MASSACHUSETTS IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Monday, lune 5, 1978 0 Mr. MOAKLEY, Mr. Speaker: The College experience involved more than just classroom ac- tivities, it also entails peer rela- tions, group activities and athletic events. Roxbury Community College, which has just completed its fifth academic year, is deeply involved li f,R'E,,Cf p 1-' ff f f ff 414' in this total educational experi- ence. One phase of this effort has been in athletics and witnessed by the success of their basketball teams, their work seems to be effective. It's men's team, which had a record of 19-3, was the Mas- sachusetts State champion and in- cluded All-American player How- ard West. The women's team, also Massachusetts State champion, had a record of 20-2 and led by All-American player Shebra Le- grant, went to the national tour- nament in Kansas. Coaches Alfreda Harris and Wil- lie Booker and their players have much to be proud of for they have shown that a proper mix of aca- demics and athletics can bring success not only to themselves but to the entire college community. 0 I ,. f. if I Q s i1..,,ff: g,gggs93a'rf f ' ,..Y f ' .... ,u '1,z4' 'ww-f-,s ff:-, . . f - f ffm., ul- dmqakwwwmgmmammm
