Text from Pages 1 - 64 of the 1963 volume:

Dedication We, the Seniors of Roxbury Central School, are happy to dedicate our yearbook to A man who gave his all to education's call; A man whose helping hand made many understand; A man whose deeds have answered many needs. A man who speaks softly to an injured pup, And teaches today’s youth to never give up. DR. JOHN C. SWEATMAN From 1947-1962, Dr. Sweatman served faithfully on the Roxbury Central School Board of Education. He was president of this board for the latter twelve years of his service. Dr. Sweatman became Pres- ident of the Board of Cooperative Educa- tional Services in 1957. He is still pres- ident of this board under Mr. Carpenter, District Superintendent. We are all guilty of procrastination. The farmer may say that taking in a load of hay will wait until tomorrow; however, there is always the possibility of its raining that night. In case of rain he realizes that tomorrow was too late. For each day of our lives, we can always use the word tomorrow; and, with full con- fidence, we look forward to another day when life should treat us well. But did you ever stop to think that there might not be another tomorrow? We may never arrive home from work because of a car accident; we may have a sudden heart ailment; or maybe the Communists will agree to attack our country. Many drastic things could occur between today and tomorrow which might take from us the wonderful gift of life. Then tomorrow wouldn't matter! All our ambitions that were put off until one of the many tomorrows ahead would be completely washed down the drain. It is true that we must live for the future, but the future is such a gamble that we should not be so greedy when using the word tomorrow. Too many good things are saved until tomorrow. It is TODAY that really counts! TODAY is the time to do those things which we want so badly to do tomorrow. To- day we should love our family deeply. Today we should show great interest in our friends. Today we should try hard to learn about the many things that our world has to offer. Today we should look bright-eyed at the many wonderful gifts of nature that God has so unselfishly presented to us. Today we should breathe deeply the fragrant fresh air of each morning, noon, and night. Today should be lived as though there may not be another tomorrow.
