We were indeed fortunate in securing Mr. Harvey as sponsor. Class Officers Elected This was one of the highlights of the first half of our Junior Term. Our confidence in Ted Howitz was strong enough to elect him president. The V ice-Presidency was held by Arthur Faulk. The secretary was Eleanor Spano and the treas- urer was Richard Hague. The Waltz Dream On December 12, 13, 14, of 1947, one of the most vivid musical shows Roxborough has ever presented was given in our auditorium. The excellent talent of many members of the 11th grade made this possible. The Fall Daze On November 7, 1947, the 49'ers gave their first dance in the Girls' Gym. This was both a financial and social success. Stanley Koch dressed as the coy maid and Ann Hait as his handsome suitor contributed to the entertain- ment. First Members of lhe Honor Society In October, an Honor Society assembly was given. The first members to be inducted from the 11th grade were Sarah Virkler, Arthur Faulk, and Peggy Schultz. It wasn't easy for these students to achieve this hard earned goal, but it certainly proved worth while in the end. The Junior Prom On January 16, 1948, all our loyal lads and lassies gathered at the Green Valley Country Club with one purpose in mind, that of making this prom a memorable event. And we surely accomplished what we set out to do, for even the dubious critics had to admit that it was the most successful junior Prom in a long time. Music was provided by those able-bodied musicians, Simmers' Esquires, and we enjoyed the dancing until one o'clock. Then we left for Dons, ttHot Shoppes, or any of our other favorite after prom spots. The majority of us didn't get home until the early hours of Saturday morning. But one thought prevailed in all of our minds, this being that we would remember this joyous evening for many years to come. 11B CLASS OFFICERS REMAIN THE SAME In the beginning of our 11B term, we were so well satisfied with our efficient officers that we decided to place our trust in them for another term. This was quite a compliment for Ted, Arthur, Spinny, and Dick, for it isn't often that a class has so much confidence in their officers that they don't think it necessary to hold an- other election.

The Leap Year Leap On March 12, we again exercised our so-called talents and engaged in a dance in the Girls, Trap. In many of the dances the girls asked the fel- lows for the honors, so you can see it was ap- propriately named. The floaters also carried out the idea as they were faces of pretty little girls with chocolate kisses fastened over their lips. Most of the class attended and joined in the fun until 4:30. Then we gathered up our books and went on our ways with another hit dance to our credit. Seven 49'ers Join Honor Society The Honor Society claimed seven members of our class in an impressive assembly in March. The students included Eleanor Spano, Irene Nygren, Ted Brownworth, Charlotte Saylor, and Corrinne Vergari. These students lived up to the high standards set for them in scholarship and participation in extra curricular activities. We were extremely proud of them all. Dear Ruth On April 6, 7, 8 of 1948, Roxborough presented Dear Ruth in the school auditorium. The mem- bers of our class certainly deserved a lot of credit for the long hours of practicing they put in. This show was acclaimed by all as a humor- ous, inspiring comedy, and we have a lot of our 49'ers to thank for it. Sport Sideline.: On May 26, Arthur Faulk won the Broad Jump City Championship for the second time. This was quite a credit to the school and also to us. Our luck was good this term and although competition was keen, Roxborough's Golf Team came through with the City Championship. We proudly claimed Bill Raup and Bob Griffith as active players of this undefeated team. Delaware Boat Ride One bright Thursday afternoon in the spring we met at the Chestnut Street Wharf to'board a. boat going down the Delaware. We had an exciting and adventurous time and by the time we had to leave, we'were willing to go to the peace and quietness of our homes. 12A CLASS OFFICERS ELECTED The 49'ers elected Ted Howitz to lead us through our last year's trials and tribulations. Another office of equal responsibility was the office of vice-president which was held by Jean Gildea. The other officers who were elected to assist in this big job of organization were Eleanor Spano as Secretary, and Donna Donaldson as Treasurer. The Barretts of Wimpole Street On December 2, 3, 4 of 1943, Roxborough presented one of the most moving plays in the history of the school.
