Sim Davis sneaked into the end zone to give Roxboro an exciting 6-3 victory and, the sole possession of first place. Signs of Homecoming were seen in displays, posters,and excitement was in the air as early as the beginning of the week of October 6. Thursday night the cheerleaders led the students through the streets of Roxboro in a rousing pep rally. Sunny skies prevailed on Friday as students, employees, and i nt e r e s t e d citizens came out to see the attendants in the annual Homecoming parade. Friday night, spirits rode high, and tension mounted as students and alumni surrounded the football field. There were several victories that night. Miss Brenda Brooks was crowned our 1961 Homecoming Queen. The Roxboro Rockets were victorious in the game with Southern. The Roxboro High students and s upp o r t e r s displayed winning sportsmanship and school spirit. Saturday night, the Queen and her court reigned at the Homecoming Dance. As the clock struck 12, ending another Homecoming at R.H.S., the students went home with enough happy memories to last until another year.
