Of course this September has not been September to me. For the first time in many years (I haven ' t the energy to count it up myself) I have been skipping school. To say that I am missing you and school, is just another cliche that goes without saying. But the old ears are still good and I am thrilled everytime I hear any¬ thing about the Class of ' 60, the football team, the band, the Rocket (I read every word of it), the annual, the glee club, the student council (I liked your Hello Week ), public speaking, anything and everything you do. Now Class of ' 60, since I think you are a prize package, I expect the best newspaper, the best glee clubbers, the best athletic reports, the best annual, the very best scholarship record (I am watching the honor rolls), and the very best of everything from you. There is so much to do, and so little time, re¬ member, ' Don ' t let the grass grow under your feet ' ! Taken from a letter written to the Senior Class from Miss Hester. September 22, 1959 To a teacher whose name is synonymous with Roxboro High School and whose memory will remain in our hearts forever, we, the Senior Class, are proud to dedicate the I960 Rocket — Miss Mary Foy Hester. 4 V l at JLWlD) gTWSHHT© . . . teacher s who are always ready to help . . . friends calling greetings as we enter . . „ co-operation . . . an encouraging word ... a smile . . . all are part of the spirit of R.H.S, i . . . the blazing fire of a pep rally . . .the flash of a baton . . . cheers when the team runs onto the field . . . homecoming . . . rain that could not dampen spirits . . .and of course the classwork that is so much a part of every day . . . . . . the Rockets hit the hardwood . „ , ham¬ burgers after the game . . . twerp season . . . snow. . . the stillnes s of a church . . . the long- awaited Christmas dance . . . and last minute studying for exams . . . . . . bright spring days . . . the student council elections . . . halls plastered with posters . . . frantic preparations for Jr.-Sr. and at last, the big night itself . , . the spring concert . , . then, the biggest thrill of all--graduation. 9 i-! kmiwWMM mam .
