On behalf of the 1985 ROX Staff, we wish to dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Goode for her years of dedication and loyalty to the students of Roxana High School. Mrs. Goode was born in Wood River to the parents of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hardesty. She went to school and graduated from Roxana High. She then went to Southern Illinois University. Edwardsville. and received her bachelor’s degree in English and journalism. After receiving her bachelor's degree. Mrs. Goode returned to S.I.U.E. and received her Master's degree in theatre. Mrs. Goode has three daughters) Vicky, Julie, and Kathy: and also has six grandchildren - three of the six grandchildren are triplets. Mrs. Goode, known to her grandchildren as Grandma Kitty,” enjoys being with her girls and grandchildren. Through the years. Mrs. Goode has become interested in many hobbies. Mrs. Goode enjoys collecting ceramic cats, going to the theatre in London, and directing plays. PMrs. Goode is very active here at Roxana. As many know, she is the advisor of the ROX. director of the plays and musicals, advisor to the Thespians, and advisor to the maids at the coronation. The faculty, staff, and students appreciate all your hard work and dedication, Mrs. Goodes and it is with sincere thanks and pride that we dedicate the 1985 ROX to you. Roxana High School will have to say farewell to Mr. Robert Kissack after 35 years of dedicated service. He has held the office of Assistant Superintendent since 1974. Mr. Kissack attended high school at Hoopeston. Illinois and attended Eastern Illinois University from 1945 to 1946. While at Eastern Mr. Kissack was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, and he lettered in football and basketball. From 1946 until 1950. Mr. Kissack attended SIUE where he earned a B.S. degree in mathematics and physical education. At SIUE, Mr. Kissack was the President of the Sigma Beta Mu Fraternity. He had a varsity letter in basketball for 3 years. He was. also, a member of Who's Who Among American College and University Students. Mr. Kissack earned his Master of Science Degree in Education Administration at the University of Illinois. Mr. Kissack came to Roxana immediately after graduating from college. He first taught junior high math and P.E. and coached football, basketball and track for the Junior High School. He then taught high school geometry and coached sophomore football and j.v. and varsity basketball. In I960. Mr. Kissack became the Assistant High School Principal. He held this position until 1962. when he became Principal of Roxana High School. He became our Assistant Superintendent in 1974 and has held that position to the present time. We thank you.
