IT TAKES The Rox Staff has Unanimously chosen to dedicate the 1983 Rox to both Mr. and Mrs. Uhe for their outstanding contributions to Roxana High school. Together they sponsored The Rox from 1970-74, and they continued loyal support to Roxana students by their diligent and dedicated work on our annual Roxana Junior-Senior Prom. Mrs. Loretta Uhe was born and raised in Pearl, Illinois, unlike Mr. Gerald Uhe, who was born in Highland and spent his earlier years around the Alhambra area of Madison County. Mr. and Mrs. Uhe were both very active during their high school years. Mr. Uhe attended Edwardsvill High School. He was verv active in athletics lettering all four years. He moved on to Belleville Junior College and eventually Missouri School of Mines at Rolla. He graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and later acquired a M.Ed. Degree from the University of Illinois at Ur-bana. Mrs. Uhe attended East Pike High school. She received a G.A.N. Award for athletics, was elected Valedictorian for her and was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school she earned her Bachelor’s degree in math and biology and her Master’s Degree in Biology at the University of 111. and earned another Master’s Degree in Earth Science at S.I.U.E. Mr. Uhe’s teaching career at North Greene High school where he referred and coached. Mrs. Uhe started her career at Calhoun

TWO High school in Hardin. In 1964 Mrs. Uhe started working at North Greene High School where they met and married on August 24, 1964. The Uhe’s have now been married for 18 vears. They have two beautiful daughters, Shawn Rene, a fifteen year old sophomore at Edwardsville High, and Kendra Rae, an eleven vear old 6th grader at Columbus Grade School. Mr. and Mrs. Uhe have many favorite outside interests including the showing of Angus Cattle. They nave participated in and judged many county, state and national angus events. Mr. and Mrs. Uhe, you have always believed in preparing your students for advanced study, for jobs and for any academic endeavor which may come their way. You try to help students develop toward their highest potential. You have a habit of helping students to mature during your classes which may or may not be painless. We have greatly appreciated your work on the Prom, in the classroom and in many other ways. For all your help in the years past, present and future we dedicate the 1983 Yearbook to you, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Uhe. The Rox Staff
