DEDICATION JEFF WELKER On behalf of the 1978-79 Rox Staff, we wish to dedicate this yearbook to you, Mr. Jeff Welker, for your years of coaching and teaching here at Roxana High School. You lived in Alton and later in Bcthalto, where you attended elementary school. In your junior high years you attended Civic Memorial High and later graduated from East Alton-Wood River. Your Freshman year at Civic Memorial, you injured your back while playing football. This excluded you from playing through your Senior year. After graduating from Wood River in 1967, you attended Belleville Junior College for two years and finished your education at S.I.U.E. in May of 1974. In the Fall of 1973, you student taught at Roxana High. The next year you substituted for one year and, immediately following, you became full time. You still further your education at S.I.U.E. in the summer. Currently you teach history classes, specializing in Civil War, World War I and II. On November 28, 1970, you were married to Sheila Miles of Bethalto at the Bible Baptist Church in Cottage Hills, where you both still attend. You now reside at 761 Oakwood in Rosewood Heights. In your spare time, you are extremely devoted to our Roxana High sports program. You coach the Freshmen Football Team and assist the Varsity Shells. You also coach Freshmen Basketball. Having such concern for our football players health, you devote your own time to a weightlifting program that is outstanding. During the summer, you invite the guys into your own home where you have weightlifting facilities. Also during the summer, you have devoted your time to a girls softball team, made up of girls from Roxana High, known as the Famous Foxettes. Because of your extreme dedication throughout the year to Roxana High, it is with great pleasure and sincerity that we dedicate the 1978-79 yearbook to you, Mr. Jeff Welker. Forever yours.
