Mrs. Calvin! The ROX staff of 1973 dedicates this year’s ROX to you. Donnie Larimer Calvin, for your hard work on behalf of Roxana High School students. Your energies have been devoted toward helping Roxana’s students since 1953. when you started as a junior high girls' P.E. and social studies teacher. From 1955 to 1960. you directed the high school girls’ P.E. program, initiating girls’ gymnastics. Cheerleading sponsor for the last 15 years, you also sponsor the pep club and for the last twelve years have counseled several classes. You graduated from Conway High School in Conway. Missouri and later attained a B.S. degree in health and P.E. from Southwest Missouri State in 1953. In addition to study for a specialist certificate in guidance at S.I.U. and the U. of I., you obtained a masters degree in psychology and guidance from the University of Illinois in 1958. A member and officer of an exceptional number of clubs, you are involved in the Illinois Association of University Women. Illinois Education Association. Roxana Education Association. Illinois Guidance Personnel Association. Delta Kappa Gamma, and Delta Psi Kappa to name only a few. Always concerned with Roxana’s youth, you choreographed dances for our first musical and recently helped our cheerleaders win 2nd place at the All-American Cheerleading Camp this year. Despite all the time spent helping students find direction in their lives, you still manage to travel, teach swimming and enjoy your family; husband Dean and 7th grader Jeff. Roxana is truly indebted to you for your many efforts toward making our school a better place. Our appreciation for your time and trouble can never be fully expressed. Sincerely. 1973 ROX Staff 3
