I he cheerleaders lead the pep rally at the Thursday night bonfire. This first section of the 1969 ROX deals with the story of Homecoming Week. It all began Tuesday, October 15. The high school auditorium was filled to capacity to await the announcement of the Queen. At long last Lynn Metz was named the Varsity Queen. Her Court included Karen Kissaek, Debbie Miller, Cathy Armstrong, and Debbie Davis. The next scheduled event was the parade. This year's parade was one of the biggest and best parades in Roxana High s history. There were 11 floats—all beautifully done by industrious hands of students and sponsors. The Art Club had the winning lloat with the theme “Plaster the Bulldogs.” The parade led the spectators to the pep rally and bonfire. Again, it was one of the most successful Homecoming events in RCHS’s history. The crowd was large and enthusiastic. The cheering was like nothing that was ever heard in the sacred stands of the football field. The spirit carried over into the soc hop that was also well attended. Then came the game. Bv the overwhelming score of 34—6 the Roxana Shells really did Plaster the Bulldogs.” 1 he following night was the Homecoming dance. With the thrill of victory lingering in the air, the dance got underway. Queen Lynn and her Court reigned over the victory celebration which lasted from 8 until 11. Then it was over—the story of Homecoming 1968. 7
