Your lives thus far have been molded by your parents, teachers, church, and associates. The part they played' in providing you a proper foundation cannot be measured, for the laying of the proper cornerstone of a life is invaluable. With the foundation you now have, you alone must build and complete the structure of your life. No one can do this for you. The decisions of your generation will, in years to come, determine your future as an individual and the future of your nation. Such things as freedom of speech, the right to vote, the freedom to pursue our goals, and the many freedoms too numerous to mention were earned by the courage, faith and lives of many Americans. These strong, determined Americans struggled for their ideals and convictions and developed the strong communities, strong states, and strong nation that we enioy today. Today, no one individual can stand still, for in an Atomic Age, to stand still is to lose ground. As leaders of tomorrow you must continue to strive toward progress as an individual and for your state and'nation. Begin now to learn more and to put into practice what you have already learned, for the progress of America lies in you -- a leader of tomorrow. The evening was highlighted by a rain, skit, speech, and bon-fire. The skit consisted of members of the football team, Pep Club, and Queen candidates. Follow- ing this, a speech was given by our much-loved Coach McLane. The evening was topped off with a huge bon-fire characteristic of the '11-Oaringvv spirit of Roxana football fans. Friday, despite a drowning rain, the Homecoming Parade was underway promptly at 3:00 p. m. Because of the rain, the floats were dissolved under the very eyes of disappointed students. That evening, among mounds of mud and puddles of water, Roxana Shells fought their way to a victory over the Madison Trojans with a score of 6-0. Amid a beautiful setting of candle- light, colored lights, and ferns, with background oriental music, Miss Carol Jo Brien, escorted by Tom Gatewood, President of the R Club, crowned the 1959-60 Roxana Home- coming Queen. After the crowning of the Queen, the evening was concluded with the Annual Coronation Dance. Wasethere ever a lovelier sight? What's the matter, Carol Jo? A TIME OF DECISION As high school graduates you are entering a new phase of living. Your lives thus far have been molded by your parents, teachers, church, and associates. The part they played in providing you a proper foundation cannot be measured, for the laying of the proper cornerstone of a life is invaluable. With the foundation you now have. you alone must build and complete the structure of your life. These strong. determined Americans struggled for their ideals and convictions and developed the strong communities, strong states, and strong nation that we enioy today. Today, no one individual can stand still, for in an Atomic Age, to stand still is to lose ground. As leaders of tomorrow you must continue to strive toward progress as an individual and for your state and nation. Begin now to learn more and to put into practice what you have already learned, for the progress of America lies in you - a leader of tomorrow. wuxsns or Q rnonucrs OWENS-ILLINOIS ruNr,.,AuroN, :mucus K, '1 ,W V -, if +1 J nm' ,T , Z 5' 9- cw-- Q-2 iff iz., 'A J, 3-'F -1' 7 n.
