However, even rhese were influenced by rhe Prairie look, for rhey were ofren gorhered or rhe woisr and somerimes were- mode several layers of ruffles. When rhe consrrucrlon of John A. Rowland High School was finished in 1964, ir seemed coinplere. Irs faciliries included five classroom wings, c shop wing, a library, o Fine Arrs wing, a snock area, on adminisrrorion build- ing, and gymnosium, Alrhough complered in rime for rhe firsr year of school, rhe gym was only frocrion of Irs anricipored size. Ex- pansion of rhe gym was rhoughr ro be necessary from rhe very begin- ning, however, ir wosn ' r unril 1980 rhar rhis rhoughr was acred upon. Alrhough o swomp of poperwork and plan opprovol was necessary in order ro begin, rhe Gym Expansion commirree rrudged rhrough vicrori- ously The ocruol consrrucrlon rook place over on eleven monrh period, and when complered, doubled rhe size of rhe gym floor.
