The good balanced team effort by the players of the Girls Varsity Basketball team propelled them into the CIF playoffs for the second year in a row. Diana Zigars, the varsity coach, stated: It has been an outstanding season. We have achieved all the goals that we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season. One of those goals was to obtain a berth in the CIF. This goal was accomplished when the team tied for second in the league with a league record of 8 wins and 2 losses. The losses were to Walnut and Wilson. In the first round of CIF playoffs the girls were pitted against Bolsa Grande. This game almost brought the house down when Rowland edged Bolsa out by I point. This win placed Rowland in the second round of the playoffs. All of the girls contributed to a fine season, but the results would not have been as good without the efforts of the two girls who were chosen Most Valuable Players. These girls are Virgin- ia Gonzales and Susan Geariety.
