COVINA IS HIGHPOINT • • 0m M 4 The highpoint of this year ' s Varsity Basketball season was capturing the championship at the Covina Tournament in mid- season. Prior to the tournament the team had been playing average ball, but something came together at Covina, and the team performed almost faultlessly. The most outstanding game was the 49-47 victory over Los Altos. The last part of the season, however, proved disasterous, as the team lost their last four games. Their overall league record was 1 wins and 8 losses. Coach Stevenson said the comradery that was shown between team members was outstanding. Even though we didn ' t win as many games as we wanted, the players were always a pleasure to be around. Even though their record was poor, there were several outstanding performers on the team. Most Outstanding Player award this year went to Tom Mortimer, who also cap- tured the Most Valuable Player award at the Covina Tourna- ment. Eddie Dominquez and Todd Gudger also received awards at the Covina Tournament. Most Improved player awards this year went to Todd Gudger and Richard Martinez. Varsity Basketball 89
