A THEME A DAY • • Each day of Spirit Week was given a dress-up theme. The week began with 50 ' s Dav. a favorite theme since grade school. Safari Day was new to most students, but somehow everyone who dressed up man- aged to get khaki and leopard skins together to make this day most memorable. Hawaiian Day was the coldest day, but the temperature didn ' t stop the mtrepid Raiders from wearing grass skirts and flow- ers. Crazv Day must have set the communitv wondering, as some strange outfits, indeed, walked down Otterbein on the way to school. Friday was a little bit tamer than the other days because it was Western Day. Students who had not dressed for the other days found the courage to wear a cowboy hat for this one. While the clothes worn during Spirit Week may not have come out of Vogue Magazine, the students who dressed proved to the rest of the student bodv that Rowland does have a certain amount of spirit; that IS needed is a little coaxing, and it will come out (all over t place). al he 256 Spirit Week

ANTICS PLEASE CROWDS You Can ' t Take With You turned out to be one of the most successful plays put on by the Drama Dept. The zany antics of grandpa and the Sycamore family amused and delighted the sold out crowds that attended all performances. Grandpa ' s tolerance towards his family and his attitude towards money enabled his family to pursue their desires and dreams no mat- ter how ridiculous they seemed. The strange, different type of family life proved to be very embarrassing for Alice Sycamore, who wanted to marry Tony Kirby, the son of a very rich, but very proper family. A night in jail reconciles the Kirby ' s and the Sycamores and everyone lives happily ever after. Many out- standing performances were given by the cast. Among them was Lynn Rogers who played Gay Wellington, a lush. Her per- formance brought down the house at every performance. Mr. Jordan, the teacher advisor, was very pleased with the success of the play. « V I Darren Hammers (Mr. Carmichael) plays while Chrisime Charles (Esse) dances. 1 Jim Burkhart (Tony Kirby) and Reva Curran (Alice Sycamore), to- gether again 3 Jean Swift (Mrs. Sycamore) paints while Richard Sanchez (Mr. DePeena) poses. 4 Vince Chavez (Grandpa) expounds to Parryl Tidweli (Mr. Kolenkov) 5- Donna Harrison (Mrs. Sycamore) concentrates on her art. 6- Jim Burkhart (Tony Kirby) and Amber Boone (Alice Sycamore) discover their love. 7- Lynne Rogers (Gay Wellington) plays a magnificent drunk. 358 Fall Play
