AN OLD FASHIONED TOUCH An Old Fashioned Touch was awaiting every- one who attended Homecoming this year. Not only was the turnout for the football game against Wilson large, but the spirit and enthusiasm displayed by the crowd of Raid- ers and alumni was high and constant. The half-time show presented by the band was Impressive, but the highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 1981-1982 Home- coming court. Tracy Perry was crowned queen to the delight of the crowd and rode from the stands in a horse-drawn carriage. After the game there was a dance at the Pomona National Golf Course and the turnout was so large that many were turned away from the door. Those inside danced to the music of Schu-Roberts Audio and had the op- portunity to ride a mechanical bull. The school spirit expressed by the current Raid- ers and alumni made this year ' s Homecoming a very special and a very memorable old fa- shioned touch. Homecoming 353

A SPECIAL WEEK Spirit Week was a special week this year. While the format of dress-up days and noon contests remained the same, the cor- relating of Friday ' s Western theme. Homecoming activities, and the Homecoming Dance was new. Participation in the noon time activities was at an all time high. Pie Eating. Rootbeer Chug-a-lug, Tarzan Call, Ice Blocking, Limbo, Hoola Hoop, and Bubble Gum Blowing were some of the contests students could enter. While the root beer and pies were delicious, the bubble gum turned out to be a sticky affair. The athletic prowess of many was discovered as they raced across the grass in the Ice Blocking or twirled the hoop on their waist or bent over back- wards to slip under the Limbo stick. The Tarzan call was in a class all its own, though. For it gave some students the chance to relieve their frustrations at school by yelling. When the week was finally pieced together, a picture of a spirited, fun- filled week emerged, one that will be remembered for a long time. Spirit Week 255
