YEAR OF SUCCESS The Drama Club and Thespians rang up another year of success in this school year. You Can ' t Take It With You, the fall play they produced, was an enormous success at the box office. The play demanded a considerable amount of effort, as the Drama Club was responsible for make-up and staging of the play. They also assisted the choir in producing the musical Mame. The Thespians, the drama honor society, hosted the Conference of Thespians of California this year. The conference was held at Chapman College in Orange and had as the guest speaker Jerome Lawrence, the author of the musical Mame. The school year doesn ' t end the activities though, for several of the Thespians are planning to attend the International Conference in Muncey, Indi- ana in June after school is out. At the banquet this year many of the members were given awards for their achievements through- out the year. Some of the outstanding performers in the group are Darren Boyett, Reva Curran, Darren Hammers, Jean Swift, and Darryl Tidwell. At the end of the year Mr. Jordan appeared pleased as he tucked another successful year away in his memory book. 236 Drama

The International Club not only seems to bring students of different cultures and backgrounds together within the club, but it also shares its special mem- bership with the rest of the school. The most obvious example of the clubs special place on campus is International Day, which was held in February this year. International Day brought exchange students from surrounding high schools in the, area to Rowland where they joined forces with our own ex- change students to hold discussions in various classrooms on campus. All sorts of topics were presented, from life in a foreign country to current world situations and issues. Everyone involved felt the experience was educational and very enjoyable. The club also held several fundraisers this year, among these were a car wash, skate night and game shows. A trip to Disneyland ended the year. ■ - 4 International 225
