EXCELLENCE IN DANCE Modern Dance, which is one of the newer clubs on campus, is also a class that any student can take. It is open to all girls and boys interested in performance. stated Mrs. Sandra Gurney, the sponsor and teacher of the group. The class provides an outlet for creativity and excellence in dance. Another func- tion of the class is to provide choreography for the school. Mrs. Gurney, who is in charge of the choreography for the musicals, urges her students to try out for these performances. In order to get the students used to performing in front of people, the class exchanges performances with the Chamber Singers. This year additional instructive was given to the ad- vanced class by Joyce VanZant, a semi-professional dancer. To further their knowledge of dance, the class attends Ballet and jazz and modern dance events in Los Angeles. The expertise of the girls was displayed at their Advance Dance Concert in the spring. Outstanding dancers in the group are Evelyn Amimoto, Ella Bosrock, Jennifer Flores, LIta Jaffe and Beverly Wolf.
