RATING TOPPED 9 When A.S.B. totalled their achievements for the 1981-1982 year, the rating topped 9. A variety of reasons exist for this high rating. The largest number of students ever attended the Homecoming Dance — of course the Buck-aBuck had something to do with the crowd-, over three hundred students were able to attend various con- ferences throughout the year; and the greatest number of students in the history of the school participated in clubs, organi- zations, and athletics. The most notable change for the better-, however, was the scheduled assemblies. Due to problems the past few years assemblies had been cur- tailed. This was lifted this year when the addition to the gym was completed. A.S.B. scheduled seven assemblies throughout the year, much to the delight of the stu- dents. These assemblies included an Elec- tric Show, the singer Jim Bolden, the hyp- notist Joyce Sharpe, and a Stuntman Show. The gym enlargement also made it possible for the entire student body to attend an assembly together for the first time. All of this was possible because of an excellent A.S.B. Cabinet led by Andy Casana, presi- dent. Mr. Revis, Director of Student Ac- tivities stated. In the past, the letter clubs have been best known on the Rowland campus for their unique and interesting new mem- ber initiations. This year, however, proved to be an exception, because there was not even one shocking rumor spread, and the new members just appeared quietly in their jackets, ready to participate in the club activities. These activities included the selection of the athlete of the month, coach of the year, and all sports awards. They also sponsored the popular Donkey Basketball game. Because of the rescheduling of assemblies, the letterclubs were able to again play Keystone Cops, minus the hats. And as usual, they took care of the trophy case. Lettergirls 219
