FOR A WIN The most obvious difference between this year ' s track and last at Rowland is the events became coed. Races were still run separately, but all meets and all practices were com- bined. The boys track coach. Coach Brown, said of his team. They were much more well rounded this year - better in field events than last year. Outstanding players for the boys were graduating seniors Sean Armstrong, with 2 school records, and Steve Perez, with 4 school records. In girls track the strong contenders were Erin Eicher, Denise Burton, Cindy Haye, and Tiffany Maturo. Their coach, Jeanne Koerner felt that the team grew in ability this year, with many strong distance runners and fine hurdlers added to the tt?m. She emphasises, however, that al- though nrong players help win points, it is the entire t fort of the team that puts it all together for a win. Track 115

THE FUZZBALLERS ff Man the nets was heard each day this year, as Rowland ' s tennis team took to the courts every day to hone to perfection their backhands, fore- hands, and lobs. Departing seniors left this year ' s Tennis team somewhat weaker, but the team is so competitive, this edge should disappear. Coach Livingston stated: Realistically our goal was to place 3rd. and we were hoping for a nd place in league. The goal of most team members, though, was to beat Walnut. Outstanding players on the team this year were all returning lettermen. They include Jose Sambas. Steve Taw and Marty Silva. 116 Tennis
