This year all returning players make up the Varsity Team. Prior to league play Coach Zigars stated. Because of the teams experience we foresee our season as being very competative with league place- ment being either 1st or 2nd. The team has a host of very adaptive players; among them are 3rd base, Sandy Klapp-, short stop, Debbie Gruner; pitcher, and 2nd base, Eriinda Delgado-, outfield, Sheri Wil- liams; and 1st base and pitcher, Jamie Carroll. Sandy Klapp, Debbie Gruner, and Eriinda Delgado were all league players last year. Also this year the team has some new comer stand-outs. These are freshmen pitcher Connie Alvarez and junior infielder Dawn Stunner. Softball 105

MlllM lt%%A» ' ■ttt : ' - uniiw WffHi Swimming still remains one of the toughest sports in league to win. Coach Hale states: Var- sity will be hard pressed to win a meet this year. The team, though, held high hopes for the season, as the team as a whole possessed more depth and the best swimmers had faster times over-all than in previous years. Outstand- ing swimmers on the boys team are Gary Gray, who is a shoo-in for CIF finals, and Jose Salviati. who is a possible CIF contender. The girls varsi- ty swim team, who was shooting for a 2nd or 3rd in league competition, was a much stronger team this year. They also possessed more depth, partly because of the twelve returning swimmers, 5 of which had received letters last year. Outstanding swimmers on the girls team were Jennifer Owens, Monica Courtney, Debbie Tiechman, Sonya Stamper, Sandy Salinas and Clair Kawagishi. Swimming 107
