A Tribute To John H. Green Jr. We have grown in a world of darkness bumping into obstacles along our way. But we were blessed on December 26 by the birth of John H. Green, Jr., fondly known by all as Johnny Green . Johnny grew up as most normal kids do, but he possessed something extra-the ability to bring joy to all who came in contact with him. Johnny had the unique ability to play with children at the age of 20. He appreciated the counsel and wisdom of those who were older, and enjoyed the wholesome competition of his peers. Johnny gave a hundred percent to any task that became his to carry out. His philosophy seems to have been, if it is worth doing at all, it is worthy of my best effort. This is reflected in everything he did throughout his life. Those of us who are left might do well to follow his example. As a brother and a son, John was an excellent family member. An obedient son to a mother and father who guided him and loved him, and a loving brother with whom I could share dreams and aspirations. Johnny's friends came from all walks of life-from Little League teammates, Sunday School class ushers at church, through his high school teachers and coaches, to the professors, coaches and teammates at Glassboro State College. To all who Johnny touched in his small way, we will always remember him for the joy and love he placed in our minds and hearts. My brother has done the work God needed him to do. He is not gone: he is there among us and will always be. l believe this with all my heart. -Jeffrey Green Johnny Green died on December 8, 1977, several weeks after sustaining an injury during a football game against Montclair State College on November 11. ll
