In 1858 Oliver Wendell Holmes said, A child ' s education must begin at least a hundred years before he is born. The one hundred years may be difficult to document with certainty, but there would be little controversy over the effect of the past upon the present. Glassboro State College, as it is in 1961 - ' 62, is not the creature of a moment. It is the carefully developed result of thirty-nine years of living, thinking, and experiencing in the field of teacher-education on the part of almost 5,000 students, alumni, and faculty members. Each of you in the class of 1962 has helped our Glassboro to grow strongly and vigorously, as Glassboro has helped you to grow. Glassboro State College is now irrevocably a part of you. It lives constantly in you, in your thoughts, in your actions, in your personal values, and in your achievements. We are proud to have you serve as the mirror of Glassboro ' s purposes and success. But in similar fashion you ore now a part of Glassboro, an institution with a past, a present, and a future, all of which is part of the reflected image which you, as an alumnus, will project in the mirror of life.
