You are Freshmen here, he said. We know only that you have pledged yourselves to the light of the path of children. The power is yours to keep that pledge. The power is yours to fulfill your promise. You have finished your first year here, he told us. It is your second pledge to do better than your best; renew all efforts and reward those who show faith in you. You have reached the halfway mark, he said. ' The strength of success and the scorch of failure builds your house of experiences. Now you know better. Your light is beginning to shine and the world ' s children begin to follow you. And the children do follow. We are proud to know, as we have fulfilled our promise, that our light is sharp and without flicker. It is eternal. But what is this voice that tells us of ourselves? To whom does this voice belong It is the voice of one to whom we dedicate our book of the pathway to children. It is the voice of one who has taken time to believe in us, to offer a helping hand in a steep climb to a fulfillment. Now he is leaving us. We must go separate ways. But we will meet again in every problem and every happiness. We dedicate our light of education to Dr. Bunce without whose guiding hand and utmost confidence our climb would have seemed an eternity and our successes marked by failure. 4
