f952 Oci We dedicate our lives. We dedicate our whole selves, not that part which we can give most freely. We express gratefulness for the tender care during our young lives. We remember the useless moments of indecision solved by parental love. We give thankfulness for the security of a home to which we return. We dedicate unselfish guidance to the ultimate goal of successful achievement and happiness. We dedicate our waste of those things which our loved ones have spent years to achieve for us. We dedicate these failures because we remember them and in years to come we will try to do better. It is to the parents who loved us, helped, punished, and struggled for us that we dedicate these things. We tie our failures with a word. We tie our failures with knowledge. We can only say that now we know, then we didn ' t. To our parents we dedicate each page of our learning here at college. 2 You are Freshmen here, he said. We know only that you have pledged yourselves to the light of the path of children. The power is yours to keep that pledge. The power is yours to fulfill your promise. You have finished your first year here, he told us. It is your second pledge to do better than your best; renew all efforts and reward those who show faith in you. You have reached the halfway mark, he said. ' The strength of success and the scorch of failure builds your house of experiences. Now you know better. Your light is beginning to shine and the world ' s children begin to follow you. And the children do follow. We are proud to know, as we have fulfilled our promise, that our light is sharp and without flicker. It is eternal. But what is this voice that tells us of ourselves? To whom does this voice belong It is the voice of one to whom we dedicate our book of the pathway to children. It is the voice of one who has taken time to believe in us, to offer a helping hand in a steep climb to a fulfillment. Now he is leaving us. We must go separate ways. But we will meet again in every problem and every happiness. We dedicate our light of education to Dr. Bunce without whose guiding hand and utmost confidence our climb would have seemed an eternity and our successes marked by failure. 4 Taught to the tune of a hickory stick I was your bashful barefoot beau You were my gal in ca You wrote on my slate When we were a coupl I IIHWUHIWIW n V Mildred Adams, Ed.M. Early this year standards for appointment to Who ' s Who were set up and established; candidates were chosen accordingly. The students were chosen by a faculty committee from a list prepared by the seniors. The 1952 Who ' s Who marks the first year that candi- dates were selected by the students with final appointment by the faculty committee. This year ' s candidates were selected through excellence in scholar- ship, participation in extra-curricular and academic activities, and evi- dence of citizenship and service to our college. Those selected as pictured from left to right are Albert D ' Ambrose, Edith Augustsson, Marilyn Entenmann, Oscar Hackney, Janet Snodgrass, and Glen Baker. Charles Grippaldi, not shown in the picture, was doing his student teaching when the picture was taken. These outstanding students have had a great honor bestowed upon them by being selected to represent our college for Who ' s Who in 1952. 64 School days, school days ood old g older Readin ' n rltin ' Taught to the tu 1 was your You were You wrote y stick slate ' I love you so When we were a couple of kids. fa Lotto Polhemus, Treosurer Shirley Hemp ond Clore Davis, Secretaries Executive Committee STANDING: Davis, Burlchardt, Smith, Polhemus, Corll, Rode, Pforrer, Dean Reade, Scull, Palermo, Miss Colvey. Hackney. J. Snodgrass; Literary, B. Carlino; Typing. B. Wade. The hard-working people who put this book together are pictured here. Under the able direction of the editors and committee heads, the many tedious and time-consuming tasks were accomplished. Nothing would have been completed without the assistance of an able and co-operative staff. Although hard work was emphasized, the pleasant associations also gained will certainly leave all with a very pleasant memory. Standing (left to right): J. Breslin, D. Fague. B. Wade. C.
