As Dean of Instruction, Mr. Winans is one of the busiest persons of the college faculty, where he has served since the school opened in 1923. His duties include supervising student teachers, and college instruction, and placing students and graduates in teaching positions. He is also eager and willing to lend a helping hand whenever his services are sought. Mr. Winans ' classes will always re- member him for his quick wit and keen sense of humor. His pleasant manner and sincere interests in train- ing good teachers have made it a pleasure to have worked with him. Among his interests are writing poetry, stamp collecting and gardens. TO THE CLASS OF 1951: Within a few weeks, the Class of 1951 will have heen graduated, and the campus, dorm- itories and well loved places that have known its laughter, serious discussion and tears, will know it only seldom again. College is good for youth. It builds charac- ter, makes life-long friendships and bridges the gap between childhood and adult life. Perhaps the ideas engendered during these four years will guide during the rest of life. If these ideas have been good, then straight- thinking, positive young people will go into schools to guide the destinies of the nation. We have liked the Class of 1951, and send them out confidently. Yet there will always remain in our hearts a kindly spot for them and with each will go our God-speed . May they acquit themselves well and prove the values that come from association with learn- ing. SEYMOUR G. WINANS
