Rowan Tech's Women's team won their fourth straight North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association title. The tournament was hosted by Rowan T Tech and held at Ferguson Park in g Gastonia. Eddie Myers and Vernon Clodfelter coached the team. 'ee' A - IQ I 8 l l l MEN SECOND IN STATE Coached by Ken Hayes, Buddy Lowman, and Ken Mullis, the Rowan Tech Men's team battled to a second place finish in the N4CSGA tournament April 20-21, 1985. Last year's title winners, RTC's men finished in the top three in the previous years' toumaments. We've got softball teams to be proud of! They're picture perfect. N Q. Pan of our picture of Rowan Tech is our finding ways to relax - alone and with each other, on campus and off. Intramu- ral basketball was held at Granite Quarry Elementary School. Q -- as The game room in the Student Center offers a break no matter what the weather. Whenever the weather is good, chances are you'll see a quick vol- leyball game in between classes. That volleyball net is an almost permanent part of our campus pic- ture. Playing to a full house in the Teaching Au- ditorium, the models put in as much time behind the scenes as on stage. Dean Grady Lloyd served as M.C. for the show. Participating local merchants included Link's, Cato, D.A. Kelly, Belk-Harry. Thread Shed, Somthing Special, Mister Jeans, American Scene. Ellie's, Anne's, La Nichole. With the woods behind the LRC as backdrop, the Piedmont Folk Festival was held Saturday April 27. It featured traditional music and crafts, as well as Master classes and workshops in claw hammer banjo playing. music arranging for lap dulcimer. and playing the hammer dulcimer. This year. the students wore dark grey robes. the color designated for two- year degree recipients. They wore academic hoods bearing the college's colors. blue and white. Harold Kenerly. L The walls of the LRC were repaired because the original support beams were placed too far apart. As a result, cracks had begun to cause damage to the building. Repair crews set up scaffolding and began their work with the noisy business of removing all the brick on the outside walls.
