L to R: Cheryl Adams - Jr. Editor, Melinda McKie and Robyn Schurtz - Sr. Editors, Kerry Main - Jr. Editor, Miss Coffey - Adviser We, the Senior Editors of the 1976 Rovan Yearbook, would like to thank all the people who helped make this yearbook possible. We realize that we pushed our money-making projects, but it was for making the yearbook better and more available for you, the students of R.O.V.A. High School. We express our gratitude to the members of Rovan Staff. They have worked hard to make the yearbook better for you, so please do not criticize the work of these people. We sincerely hope you enjoy this yearbook because we enjoyed putting it together for you. Thanks again for making this book possible. The Year of Spirit 4 i! I ft In Dedication to Mr. Tom Devlin We, the Rovan yearbook staff, would like to dedicate our 1975-76 Bicentennial yearbook to Mr. Tom Devlin. Mr. Devlin has done so much for everybody at ROVA, and we feel the best way to show our appreciation is to dedicate this yearbook to one of the greatest faculty members at ROVA. You have never known a stranger; you have been a father to some, and a friend to all! We hope your 24 years at ROVA have been happy and enjoyable ones. We wish you and your family much happiness and success in the years to come. As one of a crowd or one of a pair you take your place in the rank and file of humanity. You stand among many as an individual . . . unique, rare, and beautiful. 3j Every day we walk through the same doors, sit in the same chairs, and lean against the same lockers. During our year the path never changes, only our direction and destination. 7 Out of the masses emerges the individual ... all that he is and all that he will become. 9 0 11 DWIGHT PETERSON RUSS NELSON BILL LANSING DOUG SCHWARTZKOPF '75 SEASON R 14 Cambridge 7 • 8 A1 wood 6 20 Valley 8 0 46 Aledo 12 • 9 Galva 7 27 Abingdon 7 V 28 Valley 0 • 21 Alexis 14 A 21 Knoxville 7 RANDY MAIN DAVE FRYMIRE RANDY DOOLEY DICK VINSON 12 MIKE COLLINS BILL JOHNSON JOHN GRAVES TIM PELTON SCOTT KIRK BOB McCLAY 13 DAVE BOOTH J. With eyes full of illusions, with my mind full of hope, 1- arrived here a cold January day. I couldn’t imagine even a little of what might await me from that day on, besides I knew none and spoke no English. But 1 have been here for two months now and if I must state an opinion - I don't have the words. It's fabulous: The school, the students as well as the excellent teachers, and my fantastic parents, brothers, and sister. I hope that neither time nor distance will cause me to forget even an ounce of what I learned here. I also hope that I won't forget to thank all those who helped me in one way or another: teachers, friends, relatives, and so many others whom I met during this short period of time in the USA. At this moment I can say that all my illusions, hopes and reasons for being here have been fulfilled. Now I only need to continue my studies here and to play soccer. Before ending I want to thank you a thousand times for everything you have done for me and 1 assure you that this time which I have spent here will never be erased from my mind and that no face, no person, no moment will ever leave my memories and Thank You. 176 CLASS COLORS: Red, White and Blue CLASS FLOWER: White Rose George E. Lamore, Jr., Commencement Speaker Iowa Wesleyan College, Ml. Pleasant, Iowa 177 The people are everywhere: some queens, some listeners, some artists, some leaders. From each something is gained, from each something can be learned. In elections, in classrooms, and on the field, the decision is yours; to reign, to listen, to accomplish, to lead. Everywhere there are faces . . . some happy, some solemn with thought, some sad . . . but always they are there. Faces are sometimes mirrors which reflect what we see and sometimes windows that let others see in. 181 Let us remember the excitement of a united spirit, the challenge of knowledge, the warmth of a smile, and the endless march of Time itself. Let us remember what we have learned and let us learn from what we remember. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
