The annual Athletic Banquet was held this year on May 21, in the ROVA Cafetorium, with Mr. Maynard Adams acting as toastmaster. The speaker for the evening was Ken Anderson, who entertained with a talk and films of his own experiences with the Cincinnati Bengals. Coach Whalen presented the following football and track awards: Outstanding offensive lineman- David Blender Outstanding defensive lineman- Steve Graves Outstanding offensive back- A1 Truelove Outstanding defensive back- Dave Clark Most improved player- Greg Coffman Dale Johnson Award for the Most Valuable Senior Football Player- A1 Truelove Most Valuable Senior Award for Track- Ron Brown Coach Meredith presented the following basketball awards: Top defensive players- Larry Whitman and Pat Nelson Top rebounder- Dave Johnson Most improved player- Dick Naslund Free throw award- Reed Johnson Top performer- Reed Johnson Most Valuable Senior Basketball Player- Reed Johnson Athletic Director Bill Adams presented the Bob Heflin- Dean Sornberger Award for Most Valuable Senior Participant in all sports to A1 Truelove. 25
