The Student Council chose the theme Tomorrow land for the homecoming October 6th and 7th. Friday afternoon the activities began with the judging of skits, cheers, band music, and pep talks. That night the game against the Knoxville Blue Bullets began after the traditional snake dance and burning of the dummy. During the half-time King Bob, Queen Cheryl, and their court were presented to the fans and student body to reign over the remainder of the game. The king and queen reigned over the dance Saturday night which climaxed the homecoming activities of 1966. 13 Tigers Build for Future The R.O.V.A. Tigers, directed by head coach Bill Wise and assistant coaches Rex Masterson and Pat Jenkins, had a rough season with only one victory over Costa. But nevertheless the Tigers fought hard and gained a lot of experience for the coming year. Junior Varsity squad, under the coaching of Mr. Pat Jenkins, ended the year with an impressive 6-4-2 record. Many of these players served on the Varsity squad, too. Therefore, we have a lot of hope and experience for the coming years. Arlan 17 Lettermen of 1967 The Lettcrmen's Club this year was headed by Dan Holmes, president; Curt Nelson, student council; Mark Leafgreen, secretary; Gregg Gibbs, vice president; and Rick Brown, treasurer. On November 18 and 19, they presented three one-act plays entitled A Sunny Morning, Pullman Car Hiawatha, and He Ain't Done Right By Nell. A large number of the Junior Class participated in these plays. Although the season looked rather gloomy to begin with, the team came through with a 4 game winning streak at mid-season. The team ended the year with a 4 and 14 season record. Memories “Stillers’ Stomp” The F.H.A. held its Sadie Hawkins Dance on February 18 in the gym. Music was provided by Volney Lamb Jr. from WIRL. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Mike Kalb and Catherine Mills as Little Abner and Daisy May. Mother-Daughter Banquet The F.H.A. held its first mother-daughter banquet this year. It was held on May 15 in the new cafetorium. It was the first production given in the new building and it proved to be a great success. The play was directed by Mr. Stephen Rhoades. 77 Librarians Senior Marching Band Accompanists Band The R.O.V.A. Marching Band provided a rewarding season for the football fans with its excellent performances at the home football games. This year the marching band was comprised solely of volunteers. Both band and chorus combined their efforts to present their first formal concert in the new cafetorium. Proceeds from the concert went to the fund for the new military band hats. Music contest, held at the Canton Community High School, proved to be the most exciting experience for the band members this year. They received a superior rating for their performance and also for sight reading! All agree that the hard work the band has done this year has proven worthwhile. We congratulate Miss Berry and the band on their accomplishments! Eighth and Ninth grade Band and Chorus - SJ9UUI •uartet Second Contest Winners Girls' Double artet Mixed Chorus Chorus Christmas Vespers opened the choruses' performing season this year. Most of the selections were religious numbers, accented by both piano and organ accompaniment and many soloists. In preparation for Music Contest, Girls' Chorus and Mixed Chorus presented several of their contest numbers at the Spring Concert with the band. The choruses again received excellent ratings at contest. After early spring activities, chorus began work on the Festival and, later, they performed at Baccalaureate. Girls' Chorus 82 “A Night with Jerome Kern” On the nights of May 5 and 6, the band and chorus presented the music of Jerome Kern for the Annual Spring Festival. Miss Klinefelter and Mr. Rhoades narrated and portrayed the characters of Betty Kern, Jerome's daughter, and Maurice Wolfe, his friend. The program was enjoyed by all and revived many fond memories for the parents. After everyone enjoyed the meal served by the eighth grade home economics class, some of the tables were cleared and the juniors presented the program. Everyone enjoyed dancing to the music of Vince Lucas and his Royal Rhythm Kings. This prom was unanimously christened one of the best ever held at R.O.V.A. 93 Dan Holmes was honored with the Citizenship Award from the Oneida American Legion. Awards Day Assembly 94 Accepting the yearbook dedication for the boys in the armed forces were Sgt. Carol Rednour received the outstanding yearbook editor award presented by the American Yearbook Company. Judy Edwards received the Citizenship Award from the Altona American Legion. R.O.V.A.'s annual Awards Day was held on the morning of May 26. During the conversation Mr. Edwards mentions a letter he received from BECKY VANNOY. The letter told of the great accomplishments of the Class of 1967. (Mr. Edwards failed to mention that the letter came with a bill for 25 years rent.) As they look back at the beloved class of '67, they see KATHY ANDERSON now happily married to John Todd. Kathy and John are sheep farmers in lower Austria. RITA COTTOM after waiting for some time, decided if you can't beat e'm, join 'em. She is now a Wac and is on Search Patrol in the Pacific. TIM DENNIS is a stewardess for a very prominent corporation, REX CO. STEVE DENNISON finally got the chance to put his artistic ability to work for him. He is a painter. He paints mostly on tour, or as some may say, on the road. He paints center stripes for the highway department. JUDY EDWARDS now has taken the position of cheerleading teacher at Harvard. LOIS EDWARDS finally got married and she and her husband are selling John Deere tractors to the African natives. GREGG GIBBS is now running an outlawed Republican Party and plans to overthrow the government of President Richard Paul. LARRY GLASS is a playboy-farmer and owns a 500 acre ranch where he raises laughing hyenas. LINDA HAGER is working at a resort in Colorado and is saving her money frantically so that she can send for MAX. DUSTY HAGERTY is now a state policeman and a prominent member on the State Liquor Commission. CAROL HOLDEN has replaced Miss Miller as Business teacher at R.O.V.A. Miss Miller decided that there was more money in farming. She is still raising cain. DAN HOLMES is now the owner of a large chain of gas stations across the United States and Mexico. He is also still being chased by those six girls. JANICE HOLT attended Knox College and majored in P.E. She is now the Librarian in the Oneida Library. JOANNE HOLT has a large Horse Ranch in the east. It takes up Rhode Island and most of New Hampshire. CHERYL JOHNSON is now driving a school bus and teaching History and is also a cook at good old R.O.V.A. She is still considering joining the Air Force! JOEL JOHNSON is the manager in charge of Dan Holmes' gas stations and Joe is still chasing those six girls that are chasing Dan! ALTA LOVERIDGE is happily married to Gary Pittard. Alta is now racing the 396 at Cordova while Gary owns the Knox Laundry in Galesburg and hasn't got the time to race, he is always pressed for time. JOEY MC KEE is now selling sunglasses on the French Riveria. For a side line he applies sun tan lotion. PEGGY McMASTER and LESLI MODGLIN are now members of the Singing Nuns. Peggy is the only Nun with frosted hair and Lesli is also in the movies, she plays Twiggy's double. CURT NELSON is running the Wataga elevator under the KRISCO Company. MIKE NELSON is now married and runs a hog farm under his wife's name. They call it Peggy's Piggies. CHRIS NICHOLS married Kenny Larson and they are now living in upper Canada where he is a barber and she is a beautician. They are both doing fine, but they have had some close shaves. BOB PAQUIN is now running his own grammar school. Now he has the problem of making students be quiet during classes. At least he knows what he is up against. RACHEL PINE is now driving a tanker truck for Kelly's Conoco Service. She thinks it's a gas. After completing four years of college and obtaining his MA, MS, CAS, BS, BA, and PH D, JOHN PITMAN is the janitor of the Rio Grade School. CAROL REDNOUR is frantic because the 1966-67 yearbooks have not come and she had promised to get them out soon. It seems as if TRUDY RYLANDER and Kenny Nelson have made it even though everyone said it would never last. Trudy has now taken Gert's place and is plowing while Kenny has taken Buck's place and is sitting in the cafe. NANCY SHEELY has now joined the French Foreign Legion where she is artillery commander. CARL SHINALL has a grand total of 23 cars available to anyone who feels like they can get them to run. Also, he is giving lessons on how to disassemble and reassemble a 1958 Chevrolet in ten easy lessons. CECIL SMITH alias Bob and GENE STONE just cannot be separated. They are now running the Smithstonian Institute. MIKE KALB married DEBBIE WALKER and they now run a large chain of grocery stores throughout the U.S.A. and Canada. Mike has quit the telephone company because it had too many ups and downs. Debbie devotes most of her time to running her chain of stores, but she does find time to maintain her forty-acre radish patch behind the house. MIKE STURGEON is now head of the promotion department for the Ford Motor Company. CARL SWANSON is now the head of the U.S. liquor Commission. CHRIS SWANSON has moved to New York and replaced Chet Huntley as news commentator. JOHN SWANSON has become a millionaire farmer-playboy. He looks after his farm in his 427 Mustang. MAX SWANSON is now’ the proprietor of a large turkey farm at the eastern edge of Victoria. We might also add that Max is considering marriage. He is working up the courage to ask Linda Hager's father for her hand. LINDA TRACY is now happily married to Dan Dennison and they are raising little wildcats. Dan is now the marshal of Oneida. BECKY VANNOY is now employed as cheerleading instructor at Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo. She also works part time in a grocery store in Oneida. MYRA WALSER is now the first grade teacher at Victoria. She is not married and to occupy her spare time she teaches Judo and Karate to her first graders after school. NANCY WEEDMAN is now married to Billy-goat McGaan and they have two kids. Bill has converted his cattle trailer--you wouldn't believe! TOM YEAST married a girl named Sandy and now owns a large chain of hamburger stands.
