Student Council has governed the problems of the students with much judgement and consideration. They were guided to their decisions by their advisors, Miss Swanson and Mr. Rushing. They sponsored the Christmas Semi-Formal, following the theme of Blue Christmas. The atmosphere was beautiful and everyone enjoyed themselves very much. Gordon Sundberg's Orchestra provided the music. R. O. V. A. held its first Homecoming Parade sponsored by the Student Council. It was a large success and will be held as a tradition in years to come. Brad Williams' Orchestra provided the music for the dance following the Homecoming game. The Student Council will also bring in several speakers for assembly programs. 1-, ' G.A.A. new FIRST ROW: H. Our agriculture department got a late start this year, due to the late finish of our new high school. We moved into the new building about the first of December and immediately started to equip our shop and classroom. The activities for the year started with some of the boys attending the Bushnell Borrow Show. A large group took a one day trip to the International Livestock show in Chicago, with the Knoxville and Galesburg chapters. Several boys had corn projects with Dean McGaan, LeRoy McGrew, and Robert Malcolm placing in that order in our section. The Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors studied farm and livestock management while the Seniors built different projects in the Agri- Mr. Moore culture shop. 30 Ill-Cllllllt 'PAFF . .. ,gift ' fi . 9 J 3 sd , . ..f 51.3 'D - t ogg. In the afternoon the student body gathered west of the school O house for a skit by the cheer- leaders, and the burning of the Knoxville dummy by the Co- Captains, David Moore and James Jared. The Juniors and Seniors decorated cars, and went to all four towns to advertise the Home- coming dance. The Freshmen and Sophomores had a snake dance con cluding the afternoon. X Ysorial COO? 6 'ibe xlff ' V 6 The Tigers were defeated in the Homecoming game by Knoxville 14-12, but played a hard fought ballgame. The ballgame was followed by the dance with Brad Williams' orchestra. The highlight of the dance was the crowning of Queen Sharon and King Wendell. T Ouc B radls Band hdo W HBO Und. The Tigers then traveled to Geneseo where they took part in the Geneseo relays. At these relays they finished sixth among a field that was composed mainly of larger schools. At the Galva relays the R.O.V.A. cindermen finished second to Walnut. At the Alexis track car- nival the R.O.V. A. tracksters, by-winning the meet, were able to retain the traveling trophy which is awarded to any team who wins the meet three years in a row. In the Little Six track meet, held at Monmouth college, the Tigers tracksters finished second to Knoxville by one point in a meet which was not decided until the last event. Five boys traveled to Rock Island to take part in the District track meet.
