We feel that there are good pros pects for a strong track squad inthe next two years. This page is sponsored by HAMERSTRAND STUDIO. -4. ---- . , . SPRI ll SI li On Friday, May 8, the annual vocal festival was held in the gymnasium Under the direction of Miss Nelrose Corkill a fine program was presented by the vocal department. The newly purchased choir robes were worn for the occasion. Numbers were presented by the choir, girl's chorus, boy's chorus, sextette, and the mixed chorus. Donald Behnke and Donna Boston sang a duet. The highlight of the evening was the appearance of Mrs. Sten Half- varson, well-known soprano from the Chicago area. She was accompanied by Mrs. Frances Sherwood. The Spring Sing was a great success and the vocal department re- ceived many well deserved compliments for their performance. This page is sponsored by the DIXILINE COMPANY m Ac The time was 8 P.M. Friday, April 17. The channel was 1953, station GHS. The occasion was Galva's first live TV program as the high school band presented Us annual spring concert. Some 1, 300 people watched the entire production on a Ufesized HC3alvaniaH television set. After a test pattern had tuned up the viewers' senses of sight, hearing, and humor, the program got under way with the Men of Music march. Some of the outstanding features of the show in- cluded a sports broadcast, a'WnelodrarnerH, nehwork Une trouble, dancing puppets, and a pair of cowpokes . Lightning bugs flew and glow- worms glowed as a huge worm made its appear- ance in the black hghtto ainodern version of HCHOW-wornfH Thetughhghtoftheconcertcanm when the Arion Award, sponsored by the Lions Club, was presented to Donald Behnke for his outstanding achievement in band work. Station CHJS concluded Us broadcasting wiH1the playing of Semper Fidelis while the black light illum- inated a reproduction of the American flag. The band felt very fortunate in being able to use the new risers which the Board of Education had recendy purchased. The seniors were a little sad to think that this was their lastconcert. Preparing for the concerts had always been fun even though it had been hard work.'ThegraduaHng seniorsare Jhn Babcock, Donald Behnke, Lynn Eadie, Wayne Ericson,Wilbur Nelson, Robert Olson, Betty Sterritt, Joan Thompson, and Joyce Willis, TUCK CAK 1 Quac 84 u 3 UM- On April 10th the Senior Class presented a play titled, NO MOON TONIGHT .
