Keith King; John Clifford, Jr. The R.O.V.A. Board of Education is now finishing its fifth year of service to its community. Of the present Board only two members have served continously since the formation of the District. Those who have retired implied that much energy and time was required to perform their best service. They felt, too, that other civic-minded citizens should share in this tremendous, but patriotic, duty and responsibility. For those who have served, for those who still are serving, and for those who may aspire to this greatest of all trusteeships--the guidance and protection of American youth--there should come some satisfaction that this job of board membership offers a service of public trust of the highest order. It is a serious and important business requiring at times extraordinary strength and strategy. But, regardless of the pressures from disgruntled groups, reformers, super patriots, and the like--a board must forever be mindful that it is a leader, and a champion of ideals to the end that the doors of equal opportunity shall stand open always to every boy and girl. 5
