Harvey. Class In the past twelve years we have gathered many memories and experiences. In this brief history are recorded some of the happy and sad moments that occurred during those memorable years. The Class of '79 began their school years with the disastrous flood of 1967 and graduated when Roundup was again flooded this year. MARY CORGIAT came to Head Start in the arms of her dad who waded through the torrents to get her to those two weeks of pre-school. In fourth grade CHERYL NELSON was Pandora in Mrs. Beadle's annual puppet show and fell madly in love with Epimetheis played by CLINT RECH. MARK BLACK had to have a tetanus shot when he was stabbed in the arm by vicious ERNIE SATTERTHWAIT'S pencil. RANDY WEIGUM was threatened with summer school by Mrs. Stoner if he didn't finish his Montana history booklet and LORI LEAR got sick everyday at the sight of her arithmetic book and had to lie down in the nurse's room. In fifth, Musselshell must have been short on females for the play because BRUCE WALKER took the role of a lady. KIM HUDSON always got to eat crackers in school to settle her stomach. She informed Mrs. Kennedy that the girls kept warm at recess by playing with the boys. We constructed space ships for Mrs. Turley's class and kites for Berglund's but JUANITA BLACK never did get hers to fly. Sixth was our last year at Central and RONNIE RICHARDSON was the Romeo who dated every girl in the class that year. RENE FREDETTE and DAVID RATHS were the only ones who showed up for CHERYL NELSON'S Halloween party. LAMAR GEBHARDT received her nickname ' 'Radar'' from KENNY BELLEW. Centralaires gave a memorable performance in Musselshell when they all sat on one end of the lunchroom table to drink their orange juice and tipped the table over. JERRY KEMPER in gold leotards made a hit in our E ramateer production when he flubbed his lines, faced the audience and commanded ' 'Forget that folks.'' Some happier moments were spent with CINDY HLISOM strumming her guitar for us in the POD area. Finally we arrived up the hill for Junior High. The Musselshell Five joined us complete with coat hangers to take random samplings of dandelions on the football field in Mr. Baker's Science class. Mr. Baker used a bunson burner to heat up his chili for lunch and never recalled giving any of us permission to talk. Mr. Frank got so annoyed with our chatter he opened his closet door and kicked his ' 'wife'' wrhom he said he kept there every day except Halloween. Even that didn't dampen our enthusiasm and one day AARON BROWER socked CONRAD MARIS so hard he knocked him through Mr. Sent's window. Class Of History In eighth grade Patti Bohlman Lang started chewing 'snoose' and Pam Munyan was dubbed noisiest kid in Science class because no one ever heard her voice. Miss Peterson thought we were pretty awful and became paranoid when she got locked in English class with us. The place to go after school in those days was KENNY BELLEW'S fort, better known at 6 O'TOOL or at least ROBERT BARLEAN thought it was great. We had a graduation dance in RHS gym complete with dates and corsages. Most of us met our dates at the door rather than be chauffeured by our parents. That summer MARK BLACK and CORNEL spent the days and nights locked in their houses to avoid being initiated with shaving cream and raw eggs by the seniors. JACKIE JENSEN celebrated getting her driver's license by going to the A G Scrub where she hit a pole. DIANA WEIGUM played hostess to two South American exchange students, Marta and Dolores, who did our Spanish homework for us. All the general science students reconstructed animal skeletons except BILL SOTT who ended up smashing his in sheer frustration. KIM HUDSON provided algebra class with a few laughs when she arrived from P.E. class with her shirt on backwards. KYLE ELICH, JULIE SNORTLAND, SANDY INNES, CLINT RECH, ARON BROWER and KENNY BELLEW were spray painted purple to be Martian punch servers at the Junior Prom. As Sophomores we offered DAVE RATHS $1.80 to eat some bugs and he did. But it was Copenhagen, not insets, that got him suspended for three days. In November KIM wrecked a new' pickup and missed nearly two months of school. Mr. Sweeney put SHANNON, JACKIE, LAURA and FELICIA KELLY in separate comers so they couldn't talk in his class. The last day of school we had a huge water fight that ended up in the river where we all took a swim with our clothes on. Our Junior year had many highs and low's. Our float took first at Homecoming, RON RICHARDSON was Snowball King, and PAM LARSEN was girls' cheerleader. BRIAN TOMAC got knocked out cold when he collided with RONNIE during basketball practice. Then came the low'est point of our school career. On Tuesday, December 21st our first classmate died. ROD NELSON was killed in a car accident leaving a vast emptiness in our ranks that will never be filled. The Panthers w'ent on to bring home first place trophies for divisional and third from State in basketball. Our Prom theme was ' 'Saturday in the Park'' with COLLEEN ANDERSON and RANDY WEIGUM serving as royalty. MARK FEIST slashed the tendons in his arm while he and GARY ELIASSON were out hunting. Another FFA member, VICKI HARRIS, got caught in the Black Angus lounge in Bozeman while attending a convention. Mrs. Burt's First Grade And so we finally became Seniors. KRIS KON1BOL started the year at the cop shop for initiating freshmen too vigorously. Too bad that they didn't catch ROBIN BROWN beating those lowly creatures over the head with his football helmet every day. MARK BLACK branded the shop wall with a large 79 in spray paint for which dastardly deed he spent 20 days detention in Mr. Erdie's office. CLINT RECH and DEBBIE KIRCHHEVEL argued everyday in English class to the accompaniment of DENNIS TURLEY clicking his ballpoint pen. RICK WILLIAMSON and GUY CARLSON made a toy truck in auto mech. class, TRACEY RUSSELL came back to graduate with us bringing a humungus number of horse show trophies and SCOTT NESHEIM found a brunette reason to keep him from being homesick for California. DEBBIE HANSON did all the work that Mr. Toombs got credit for and JOHN PERRELLA took his fetal pig to state tournament. KYLE was May Day queen and COLEOS reigned over homecoming. Wherever our lives may take us, we will always have a special feeling for each other because of the experiences we have shared as classmates. Our memories will be vivid and will grow dearer with each passing year. 1979 39 Prom Royalty- T. Brenton, J. Hudson, S. Lewis, J. Majerus, I. Sotelo, I. McSweyn, M. Elich, D. Cooley, P. McKinnis, R. Scott Thomas Verna Tilley Dirck Tomac Scott Tomlin Deanna Turley Diane Turley Rita Turley Lois Van Dyke Cary Wadmen Mike Witzel 95 This year has been a success for everyone at RHS. Our athletic organizations did very well in competition. The girls' basketball team took 4th at divisional. The boys football team took 3rd in Conference and the boys' basketball teram took 1st at divisional. The track teams were very successful with the girls taking 3rd at divisional. Two boys and seven girls went to state. The golf team took 1st place at their own invitational and 8th at state. The cross country was a big success with one student running 500 miles on his spare time. The other extracurricular activities were also very successful. The FFA was successful in competition and as usual the GAA girls had a great time at their meetings. The Panther Parade had many outstanding issues also. Last but not least comes the annual. After all the hassles and problems the annual finally came through. It took a lot of hard work from a lot of students to make it a success but we finally made it. Hopefully the 1978-79 Rodeo will bring back a few memorable moments for everyone. I wish everyone the greatest of success in the future and good luck to Sheila Jorgenson as the 1979-80 editor. £7VO % ... •
