1959 R 0 D E 0 ROUNDUP HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP, MONTANA FOREWORD Honestly, I hardly know which way I'm going. How often you hear that in the too busy last few weeks before commencement. It isn’t the busyness only, we really don't know. There is the brave, half-fearful looking ahead to something new and dif- ferent. There is also the natural looking back to the now-secure, more comfortable past. We know we are looking back. We take a quick last look from our new hilltop home to the empty old school where we spent two and one-half years for we are the last class it will really remember. Mainly, however, we look back only over the year 1958-59. Looking forward is our concern, too, for we hope that this book will help you hold fast for future years the memories of a good year. The staff herewith gives you Rodeo 1959. To Mrs. Carrie Hulstcoe, who is retiring after thirty-six years in the Roundup High School, the seniors dedicate our 1959 Rodeo. We owe much to her integrity of thinking and of living. We sensed the depths of her well-springs of knowledge in her grammar and American literature classes which we all took, and in the Latin classes which fewer took. For years the plays she coached, the special-day programs she planned, and Vesper services she originated have delighted large audiences. Everything she did she did well. In class she expected us to learn, and to behave while doing it. Doing things well is the thread that runs so true through all her work. To C. H. H., our long-time teacher and friend. - Hail! Wherever you go, fare- well! SUPERINTENDENT ADMINISTRATION Superintendent Baum and Secretary Eileen Stortz. COMMENCEMENT How can four years shorten so, especially during graduation exercises? It seems no time since we were entering the old school as very green freshmen, half-afraid of initiation, which proved to be real fun (?) after all. New Year of our junior year we made the move to the new school, half sad to leave the old. The Bull Mountains have made such good daydream setting, up here on our hill. Now it's Pomp and Circumstance ; the recessional is beginning. No more time right now for looking back. Did the speaker tell us the future is ours? Wonderful! Nonetheless, tying up four years of our lives is sad. BACK ROW: B. Bianchi, R. Kowalski, D, Charlton, M. Pertile. FRONT ROW: G. Ray. J. Eiselein, E. Gray, L. Riley, D, Finco, T. Romick, J. Pratt.
