THE RODEO ROUNDUP HIGH SCHOOL Roundup, Montana FOREWORD Thisis a book of memories --yours and mine. Upon these pages are recorded reminders of the joys we have shared, the disappointments we have known, and the friends we have made in high school. Here is our Rodeo. ADMINISTRATION STUDENT COUNCIL SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN JUNIOR HIGH ACTIVITIES DEDICATION To Mr. and Mrs. Milne the Seniors of 1955 dedicate our Rodeo. For over a decade the Milnes have given excellent care to our high school building gym, trees, and lawns. To the students they have given interest, encouragement, and help. Who knows better than Bill how to make a starry- sky ceiling or a tree for the Junior Prom? Who made that sliding door, a stairway, painted the flats for plays and concerts? Who helped us pick up bottles and scrub floors in the pop room? The Milnes. Of time and themselves they have given generously. Because we sincerely appre- ciate all they have done for us, we make this dedication to them. ADMINISTRATION C. W. BAUM Superintendent IO0M3B CARRIE H. HULSTONE B. A., Nebraska Wesleyan M. GIRLS’ STATE Jane Lee Laurie was chosen to attend Girls’ State this year. Delegates are chosen on their scholastic ability as well as leadership and personality. Girls’ State offered an opportunity to learn about our government first hand by being elected to offices on city, county, and state level and carrying out duties involved in these offices. Jane Lee will leave in June to attend the activities on Rocky Mountain College campus in Billings. The Girls’ State delegate is again sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Diane Masini was chosen as alternate. BOYS’ STATE Thomas Iverson was chosen to attend Boys’ State to be held in Dillon, August 20 to 28. Delegates are chosen on basis of their scholastic achievement. Boys’ State gives the delegates a chance to learn the operation of all elective and appointive offices on the state level of government. Ray Rech was chosen as the alternate in the event that Iverson is unable to attend. This year, as last year, the Rotary Club will sponsor the delegate. This sponsorship includes all travel expenses as well as fees. LETTERMEN’S CLUB AN UNFORGETTABLE EVENT Among the normal activities and events which are planned for and anticipated, ” per- haps the yearly initiation is the most important. Most important to the standing mem- bers, that is! The blood curdling yells coming from the lockers and the sadistic smiles as they look at you and say next are enough to make anyone’s blood run cold. But it wasn’t QUITE as bad as you supposed, was it boys? CHEERLEADERS they are doing some of their enthu- siastic yells. Standing, left to right: Susan Allen, Shirley Peterson, and Kathy O'Neill, First row: Nancy Olin- ger, Virginia McCleary, Delores Hazelton, Dorothy Adolph, Marjorie Sprague, Janice Kozeliski. PEP CLUB The 43 members of the 1954-55 Pep Club worked vigorously to boost all R. H. S. activities but with special emphasis on athletics. Through their efforts in pep assemblies and in the cheering section, they can proudly say they helped the boys set new records in both football and basketball. This year's officers were; Shirley Peterson, President; Susan Allan, Vice President; and Kathy O'Neill, Secretary-Treasurer. First row, left to right: L. Devine, Secretary-Treasurer; B. TUMBLERS The Roundup tumblers accomplished their aim: another year of successful half- time entertainment. Their new maroon and white outfits, which were worn for the first time at the Billings Central—Roundup game, added much emphasis to their per- formances. The 14 tumblers flipped and lifted their way through many home games, and they also were invited to perform at Columbus. Pictured at left are: First row: C. Ross, N. Ross. Second row: J. Wilhelmi, S. BAND The Roundup High School Band performed many times during the year. They marched in the parade for Homecoming, played at football games, present- ed halftime shows at basketball games, and attended the District Music Festival in Billings. They also played at the Christmas, Winter, Spring, and out- door concerts. The six students who were chosen to represent Round- up in band at the A11-State Music Festival in Missoula, held May 6 and 7, were Ed Ording, Carol Cornish, Karen Mackey, Kathy O'Neill, and Larry Lindstrand. It was a great experience for these students. 19 20 21 22 The Mixed Chorus, under the direction of Mr. John- son, was enjoyed by all when they appeared in the Christmas Concert, the Music Festival in Billings, and the Spring Concert. 1 25 2B 27 28 29 MIXED CHORUS The members of the Chorus which were chosen to represent Roundup High School in the All-State Chorus at Missoula, May 6 and 7, were Butch Funk, Ronnie Rom, and Skip McGuin. CHORUS The Girls' Chorus made a very pretty picture, sitting under wide spreading willow trees and surrounded by fresh spring flowers, when they appeared in the Spring Concert. PEP BAND The 20 piece pep band was a selected group, and they play- ed at all home and out-of-town basketball games except one. GERMAN BAND A few clowns in R,H. S. organized a German Band They provided entertainment at two of the basket- ball games. They performed at an assembly, and also downtown on main street. Their locomotive yell went over with a bang. RYTHMAIRES This is the R.H.S. Dance Band. This gang organized to play and have fun together. They played for many school dances and a few public dances. “THREE ON A BENCH’’ Best cast at Billings Play Tournament from left to right are: Ronnie Rom, Delores Mikkelson, Bob Felix, and Virginia Cartwright. Roundup’s entry in the Billings Play Tournament this year was Three on a Bench, a one-act comedy. The cast journeyed to Billings on March 25, and the next day was presented with a trophy for the best cast. Individual honor was given Ronnie Rom for best supporting actor for his interpretation of Officer Callahan. Production Cast of Senior Play 8651 SuPP°rtinS Actor Removed from the glamor of producing a play, but very im- portant is the stage crew. They practice and work as hard (or harder) than the actors and very often mean the difference between a success or failure on production night. Seated from left to right are: Ray Rech, a junior, Shirley Peterson, and Leon Stalcup. Standing: Richard Bujok, Lois Devine, Cherie Fletcher. Mrs. Hulstone, and Carol Cornish. Seated from left to right are: Kathy O'Neill, John Watts, Linda Rom and Virginia Cartwright. Standing: Skip McGuin, Fred Junior, Ed Ording, Lenora Finco, Peggy Stefanik, Frances Nies, Ed DesLauriers, and Larry Lindstrand. ‘‘THE CURIOUS SAVAGE” At eight o'clock, Friday, April 15, the senior class of Roundup High presented to a large audience their three-act play, The Curious Savage. Weeks of rehearsals went into this production. A sense of satisfaction of a job well done fell on the cast as the curtain fell at the end of act three. Another senior play was over, and another excellent job had been done. From left to right: Virginia Cartwright as Vicky Randolph, Susan Allen as Valeria Whitman, Larry Lind- strand as Grandpa Perry, Shirley Peterson as Grandma Perry, Ray Rech as Keats Perry, Diane Masini as Priscilla Morley, Butch Funk as John Appleby, Bob Felix as Butcher Boy Bean, Jo Ann Felix as Tootsie Bean, and Ronnie Rom as Boggins. “PROFESSOR, HOW COULD YOU!” The long weeks of practicing again resulted in a fine fall production. Given by an all-school cast, it was presented to a large audience on November 5. This hilarious comedy was an equal to any given in the past and our hats are off to the director, Mrs. Hulstone, and her all-school cast. THE PRODUCTION STAFF Again deserving our praise is the production staff, without which no play could be put on. Congratulations! Standing: Mrs. Hul- stone, and Alan Nicholson. Seated from left to right: Frances Nies, Nancy Olinger, Erna Newton, and Betty Rogerson. Standing: Steve Andrews, Alan Nicholson, Penny Loucas, Barbara Van Dyke, Mary Crowe, Betty Roger- son, Erna Newton, Beverly Zupan, Sue Murphy, Pat McCleary, Carol Cornish, Larry Lindstrand, Frances Nies, Tom Iverson, Mrs. Hulstone, and Larry Zimmerman.
