O 4- O .C D. Tennis talents go on the road Between singing On the Road Again, their theme song, and spending many hours on the court practicing, the tennis team had a very successful season. Using such talents as Jeanie Blaylock, senior, and Rick Hut- chinson, sophomore, they were able to place in district and managed to make great show- ing at many tournaments during the year. This relatively young team performed as true veterans. Tracey Bailes, freshman, stated, Being a freshman and playing more experienced players was an inspiration. See- ing someone who was better than myself made me want to become a better player, so I worked harder. The fact that the team was young, however, didn't seem to bother the coach, who said, We were a young team taxed to the limit, but we pulled through. Due to the youth of the team twhich in- cluded a few freshmenl and having a new coach, the team had to work extra hard at the beginning of the year. Not only did they have to learn each other's style, but they also had to adjust to that of Coach Dixon. As players and coach got to know each other, the team's winning pattern developed. Soon coach and players alike acted as if they had played together all their lives. This was what really pulled the team through. As they went on the road again, they went as a champion- ship team.
