Coach Gary Martin gives helpful advice to a sophomore football player Eifoung teams get practice One theme ran through Round Rock's junior varsity, sophomore, and freshman football teams: rebuilding. Their talent spread thin by the school split, all four teams faced a rough road in 1981. Round Rock's JV faced a roller coaster year in 1981. With a small and inexperienced team, the Dragons went into the district race an unknown dark horse. The offense, led by the running of Peter Davis and the passing of Fabian Ledesma, provided most of Round Rock's spark. However, turnovers plagued the Dragons all year, and more than once, the JV went into the locker room at halftime within striking distance, only to fall apart in the second half. Never? theless, the junior varsity ended with a 3-7 record. While the JV had a tough time, it was even more so for the sophomore and freshman squads. While the sophs had only a tie to show for their efforts, and the two freshman teams went without a win, all the teams improved each week and, according to their coaches, as they continue upward they will play an important role in Round Rock's gridiron future. e Junior Varsity District Record RR Opponent l , 7 Bryan 30 V 6 Richfield 13 7 Temple 40 a 0 Ellison 28 , mf, ls 10 Copperas Cove 34 ' 6 Killeen 37 0 Westwood 31 L Design by DeLynn Beebe f Story by Brent Johnstone
