Band strives to keep reputation Warm-ups might sound like mass con- fusion to some, but being in tune and ready to go makes a successful session. Dick Berkley, Symphonic Band direc- tor, gets ready, baton in hand, while everyone breathes for the first note. Lowering the baton he reminds them, You know it is very bad to warm-up on high notes, you should warm up on low notes, and everyone gasps from the false start. Regardless of the particular band - and there are five - the routine is basically the same. maui' ss- . Performing a solo act at a football game was sophomore, Eric Gifford. Practice makes perfect for the band students, Many after-school practices are included for Clark Carter, junior, Tommy O'Connor, Freshman and Jeff Phelps, sophomore. Concert bands, including Honors, Symphonic and Concert, begin their season in spring. These bands combine together to form the marching band dur- ing football season. While Jazz Band consists mainly of Dragon Band members, a few only par- take in this group. Schools all over the state look up to round Rock High Schoolls band pro- grams, but in spite of this reputation, band directors feel each new band must earn a reputation for itself. Show Choir members try to get it right on a new piece Choir season hits high note The main purpose of two choir classes was to promote vocal achieve' ment. In this class singers can develop vocal quality, and also learn vocal technique and vocal discipline.
