Typing a business letter takes perfection. Kathy Latham, junior, is in deep concentration. Four year Ag student, Anthony Alexander, prepares his lamb for the show. mt' ,4 W., fy bf.- '45s They work in office or farm Unemployment is very high this year, and teachers have strongly recommended taking business classes for students who want a bet- ter chance of getting a job. The department classes include Accounting l and ll, Business Law, Typing I and ll, Shorthand I and Il, Free Enterprise, and Record Keeping. Accounting student Teresa Travveek said, 'll feel accounting is important because it in- forms you about money management. Other students are into the business of agriculture. The agriculture program includes Ag I, II, and III, Ag chemicals, and Ag Co-op. The Ag chemicals students learn how to use pesticides and care for plants. Round Rock is the only school in the state offering the specialized course. Other Ag programs deal mostly with farming and raising livestock. 'il like Ag because it gives people the op- portunity to better themselves by raising an animal, said Scott Click, senior Ag student. o vents here uThe study of science can open the mind to new and wondrous things, said Tom Taylor, biology teacher. At Round Rock, classes range from physical science to physics. A problem plaguing the department this year as in the past, was the failure of the school district to provide ventilation in the chemistry rooms. Although neighboring high schools have vent systems, Round Rock's students continued to suffer from impure air. MATH Just going out on the weekend or making a trip to the grocery store requires the use of math. Students do not always like the work involved in taking math but find the benefits of it later in life. The Math Department in- cludes Fundamentals of Math, Algebra l and II, Geometry, Trionometry, Calculous and Computer Math. Tackling his chemistry assignment with a smile brings good results for Dale Miller. vm.-1... Send that student to the head ofthe class. A M DRA Spotlight shone bright for drama 'iDeveloping appreciation of theatrical pro- ductions, educating students in the nature of theatre along with basic skills and for prac- tical experience were the main purposes of drama, stated drama teacher Ford Ainsworth. Each year the drama students work on ad- ding new skills along with polishing old ones. This year they scheduled seven plays. The first thing involved in putting on a play was for Mr. Ainsworth to select a play or many times write his own. After the play has been selected, auditions started and roles are filled. The students then analyzed characters and began learning their lines. Many hours of revising and rehearsal led to the final performance. The Mortal Choice, the three act play performed for U.I.L., tells the story of Paris and Helen of Troy. Mr. Ainsworth feels the class is very pro- fitable and enjoyable. Shari Souter, senior, feels drama is the most rewarding when you hear the audience applaud. The actors performed well this year, winn- ing Zone and District. Students named to the All Star Cast were Bobby Jo Cash, Tim Decker, Thomas Bridges, Robbie Hudspeth, Jerry Hayes, Shari Souter, and Cindy Sadler. Jerry Hayes was named best actor at District. Caught in the middle of practice were Jason Crawford, sophomore, Jeff Young, senior, Cindy Stroupe and Sherry Jol- ly, juniors. Winners at competition were Bobby Jo Cash, Thomas Bridges, Robbie Hudspeth, Cindy Sadler, Shari Souter, and Tim Decker, juniors. Rehearsal makes perfect as the old saying goes.
