' Maybe because of this co-operation both plays presentegl thus far have been successful. That goes for their parties and their prom as well. We might add, though, that their specialty is originality in Halloween floats. Touring the nearby towns of Belleville, Mt. Union, and Lewistown with a float representing Snow White ani the Seven Dwarfs, they attually found themselves with checks totaling sixty-live dollars. Evea we seniors were green with envy! Klare Sunderland led the class president: Cynthia Ycutzy, as vice presidentg Norma Foster, as secretary: and Doris Hanziwalt. treasurer. Page 11 The Sophomore Class returned to their second year of high school on September 5, 1950, and were greeted at the door by their home room teacher, Mrs. Yoder. In addition to a most successful April Fool's party, one of their chief prides and joys was the staging of their first Class play. This year the Sophomores are at the deciding point of their high school days. Our Senior advice to them is: Plan your Course carefully now, and in later years it will help you in selecting a suitable career. The elected officers of the class for the year were as follows: Presi- dent, Ronald College: Vice President, Joyve Woozlcockl Sevretary. Hazel Yoder: and Treasurer. Donald Swigart. Page 12 as 36. GQ' September found Iifty nine frightenel-faced freshmen trudging through the halls seeking out the room which would be their own for the next four y-ears. They learned that they would have Mr. Fleck, as their home room teacher. Subjects to them seemed very strange and different. The x's and y's of Algebra puzzled them. They delved into that foreboding subject known to all as Latin. They found that Civics was much different than eighth grade history - no dates to learn. Soon they became adjusted to high school life. In October they clected the following oliicersg President, Nancy Espigh: Vice President, Lois Stewart: Secretary, William Dunmire: Treasurer, Shirley Campbell. The activities of the class of the year included a Weiner roas-Q at Rupert's Cave and a St. Patrick's Dance. Page 13 ZS- 'Tw llllfh Nll IXQI if 48 40- 91 55 . b ke p -4 ji! CUZ The student band is one of our most outstanding music activities. All are thrilled when they see this group marching down the street with their bright colored uniforms, the drums beating. and the horns blowing with everyone in step. The B.M.O.H.S. band has proven to be a great success owing to the efforts of the director, Mr. Stump. Every student is glad he can be a mem- ber of this organization, especially when playing for parades or festivals. During the year the band has had many opportunities to play pub- licly. It played for festivals in McVeytown and for the Halloween parades here and at Mount Union. It also played for the Grange Hall at Strode:-s Mills. At the YMCA gymnastics demonstration the band gave a brief con- cert. It also gave a spring concert and participated in the Mifilin County Band Festival. A pep banzl was selected to play for all home basketball games. Ofiicsiw' ot' the band were as follows: President. Cynthia Youtzy: 'iwl'V2lSlll6l. Ira llaseniorc: and Sezieiaiy. Doris Fields. Page 28 Qlzcfiaifuz Our orchestra is a pride and joy to us because we are the only school of our size in the county that has an orchestra. This year the orchestra had the following instrumentation: six Hrst violins, six second violins, one viola, one cello, two flutes, four clarinets, three saxophones, two horns, four trumpets, two trombones. one tuba, two percussions, and a piano. ' Six members will be lost in the orchestra this year because of grad- uation, but we are sure it will continue to uphold the same quality because of the capable under-graduates.
