, el coyote chronicle , , The printed page and pictures are the best means of refreshing our memories of pleasant events. It is for this reason that high school annuals are printed. The Roswell Senior High School annual, El Coyote, is a graphic example of such a publication. My first assignment as sponsor of El Coyote was in 1923, and I have been privileged to serve in this capacity to the present time. Through this period of years, the high old r'h's' school annual, like the school itself, has new r'h's' grown to large proportions. The 1923 El Coyote had pictures of 81 graduating seniors and contained 124 pages. lt was bound in paper and sold for a dollar and fifty cents. lt was printed by Hall-Poorbaugh Press, as were all El Coyotes until 1951 when the offset method was adopted, with Taylor Publishing Co. of Dallas printing the book. The pictures have been made by the Rodden, Ball, and Duffy Studios. By the offset method, expensive half-tone cuts were eliminated, making possible full page pictures at very low cost. With this type of printing, El Coyote has grown to its present size of 264 pages, with pictures of approximately 300 seniors. The number of books printed this year was 950, and the price of the book is now 354. I am leaving a complete file of all El Coyotes published since Volume l in 1910. The annual has always been completely self-supporting through the sale of the books, receipts from the Senior Class Play, and advertising by local business firms. ln recent years three new features have been added to the book. These are a directory and handbook called El Coyote Pup, a double disk record of school events, and a 24-page supplement containing pictures of late spring activities through Commence- ment. The cost of these features has been included in the price of the annual. The El Coyote Tea is held on an afternoon in May in the gym. At this time the yearbooks are dis- tributed to the student body by classes and the students spend the rest of the afternoon signing annuals. The personal contacts which I have made while working with the various El Coyote staffs and faculties have been most enioyable. To have had a vital part in producing Roswell High School annuals for the past 35 years will always be a source of satisfaction and a cherished memory. C- '3 in .Y Q-A S YK! IRBB

STRENGTH, leadership, character, security, inspiration-all are evident here. ln our administration we find the exhibition of These qualities- strength to continue, leadership to direct, character to reflect, security to assure, and inspiration to challenge. The safety and security of the forest is dependent on the strength of this rugged range, and as the surrounding territory looks to the dominant peaks for leadership, so do we, the student body, seek the unfailing exhibition of these qualities in our administration.
