Shinkle began his long tenure of service in Roswell City Schools in the fall of 1920. He was employed to coach all branches of athletics. His teaching assignment was instructor in Eco- TIOFTWICS. As a football coach, Mr. Shinkle had phenomenal success. Here are the scores for three years. In '21 it reads Roswell 226, Opponents In '22, Roswell 238, Opponents In '23, Roswell l84, Oppon- ents ln i922 he became principal of Roswell High School. As his school duties increased, he gave up coaching. But he continued to teach a class in economics as long as he was principal. In 1936 Mr. Shinlcle became super- intendent of Roswell City Schools. During his regime the system has almost quadrupled in size. He and the Board of Education anticipated this growth and have, in a very efficient manner, met and solved the many and complicated problems. lt is with regrets that the teachers and patrons of the entire school system learn that Mr. Shinkle is termi- nating his long and valuable service to Roswell City Schools as superintendent.
