Ritenour, Mr. Samuel Cirota The,evaluating committee of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools completed their work at Rostraver on Friday, November 16. The primary purpose of the evaluation was the improvement of Rostraver High School in the service it is rendering to the youths of the township. Miss Emma E. Christian, chairman of the committee, in her oral report to the faculty, compli- mented the school for initiating various programs of study, the preparation and ability of the pro- fessional staff, the teacher-pupil relationship, the student body on its enthusiasm and sincere loyalty, the well conducted drill and assembly program, the Board of Education for the evidences of their public spirited interest in the improvement of the school, and the superintendent on his broad grasp of mod- ern educational principles. The high school faculty had been preparing for the evaluation for the past twelve months. Their time was used in checking and rechecking two thousand items that appear in the evaluative cri- teria, which is divided into thirteen areas. The work was done to benefit the present and future students of Rostraver. If Rostraver passes the evaluation, it will be an accredited school. If not, we will know what improvements are necessary to come up to standard. In the final report both commendations and recommendations appear to fall into three classifi- cations. 1. Things which can be done immediately to make an improvement. 2. Some that require a longer period of time and finances to accomplish. 3. Others not adaptable to local conditions at the present time.
