NIARTINEK 44 ROSSVILLE., KANSAS Those Wonderful Tears It hardly seems possible that four short years ago this proud senior class of 1961 was thirty-two timid freshmen entering Rossville High School. Twenty- seven of the original number have remained to graduate. Initiation and the Freshman Mixer started the whirl of activities that were soon to follow. Our first class party was a hayrack ride, followed the second semester by a basket dinner and dance which honored our parents . That first year james Stadler was elected Presidentg jane Zickefoose, Vice-President, Charlotte Decker, Secretaryg Ruth Miller, Treasurerg Don Rogers and Mary Brethour, Student Council Representatives. As sophomores we had two class parties, one a dance, the other a hayrack ride. Our class officers were Dean Davis, Presidentg 'Mary Brethour, Vice- Presidentg Ruth Miller, Secretaryg james Stadler, Treasurerg jane Zickefoose and Gene Davis, Student Council Representatives. For the second year our boys helped Rossville to an undefeated football team. At last we were upperclassman! This year we chose jane Zickefoose, President james Stadler, Vice-President, Mary Brethour, Secretaryg Dean Davis, Treasurer, Ruth Miller and jesse Adams, Student Council Representatives. This was a year filled with fun and activities. Under the direction of Mrs. Beulah Carey, we successfully presented the play Susan Steps Out. Cinderella Ball was the theme we chose for the junior-Senior Prom. The school year ended, and we were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our class rings. Finally the senior year, the most wonderful year of all, came. There were so many activities and so much work and fun that it passed rapidly. Don Rogers, Presidentg Thomas Lacock, Vice-Presidentg Sandra Brown, Secretaryg joleen Parr, Treasurerg Katherine Porter and Curtis Berkey, Student Council representativesg were class officers for the year. Among the many activities of the year were the senior play, The Bus Stops Here and the junior-Senior Prom, theme of which was Under the Magnolias. Our magazine sales plus additional money that we earned enabled us to take a trip to Branson, Missouri. The highlight of four years came May 21 and May 23, with Baccalaureate and Commencement.
