Dances Christmas party remains all-school social event Preparations for the school-wide Christmas Dance began with officer meetings held in Miss Holder ' s room. Officers representing each class were appointed specific duties. Tickets were sold for $1.50 per person. The band, Apple Jam, pleased students with three hours of dance music. Refreshments were served throughout the party. The treats were prepared by the new Food Service Class. Lack of money made it necessary to charge ten cents a person to check in shoes, coats, or handbags. Students were required to take off their shoes before entering the gym floor. % ' A Hk. V Tired feet found nearby chairs to relieve tensions. Donna Curtis and date cuddled on the sidelines to watch other dancers. Soft music and dim lights made it possible for Steve Williams and date Doris Black to find themselves in a world of their own. 34 Dances

Rocking with the music, B. J. Brooks and Jiffy Blevins danced to the fast music of “Apple Jam. Even teachers got into the swing; Miss Elliot and date demonstrated their vigor for students. Despite the formal attire, the word for feet was informal. Maureen Blevins and date enjoyed a fast dance at the Christmas party. Couples gathered at the check-in counter to chat or leave their possessions. Debbie Edwards, Randy Akridge, Jerry Smith, and Angie Warner take time out to talk. Dances 35
