Baseball Bulldogs roar through first seven games Varsity Baseball. First row: Tim Harvey, Mike Cole, Mike Morrow, Harold Mark Smith, Ronnie McDaniel, Jeff Jones, Dicky Clark, Eddie Ervin, Phil Willoughby, Jerry Brodie, Gary Jones, Robbie Robertson. Second row: Summers, Bobby Butler. The Bulldog baseball team for 73 really came through their first seven games with a roar, winning six games while dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker to Marietta. In this game freshman Bobby Butler pitched a two hitter and struck out seven. As chance would have it, the two hits were back to back doubles in the sixth scoring the only run of the game. Other victories were over Dalton, South Cobb, R. L. Osborne, Douglas County, Sprayberry, and Wheeler. At this point in the season the ' Dog attack is being spearheaded by Jeff Jones, Dicky Clark, Eddie Ervin, and Bobby Butler. Girls Sports Girls P.E. classes offer variety in athletics Kickball began another year of P.E. Tournaments were held after school, giving competition to every classes ' all-stars. Girls on the all-star team were selected by four captains chosen by their individual classes. Folk dances were taught to students to acquire poise and grace. Badminton, horseshoes, archery, and softball were taught to P.E. students. Some courses taught were optional to the student. Modern dance filled three weeks of listening to music, thinking of stels, and worry. No costumes were presented because of the hard task of acquiring them. Volleyball reigned as Queen with Girls ' athletics. A team was chosen by Mrs. Judy Houston to play opposing teams from surrounding schools. Above. Mrs. Knight explains to a group of P.E. girls the intricacies of the frisbee. Below. A girls ' Modern Dance group, which includes Nancy Higdon, Sheila Lowman, Teena Skillington, Karen Nelson, Melanie Beene, Sharon Scott, and Pam Brooks practice their beginning formation. 132GirlsSports
