Burns, Bernice Schrocpcl, Clerk-Secretary, John Names. Login? .xgheacl in 1954 We are taught to think positive, not negative: to look up, not downg to look ahead, not backward. We know this Class of I954 will look forward to meeting the problems of the fu- ture with all the vim and vigor, the eagerness and enthusiasm, that is possessed so largely by the young men and women who form this class. For the past dozen years, you have been preparing yourselves for the day when you will gradually slip from the protecting wing of your parents and Hnally stand alone even as they did before you. Some of you will seek employment, others will marry and form new house- holds while still others will continue their education. Regardless of what you do, there will be problems to solve, difficulties to untangle, battles to be won over and over again. This board is confident that the Class of l954 will measure up to and exceed the standards which have been set by your predecessors. Y .sh 1 G. H. BURNS, Superintendent Moral, ethical, and spiritual val- ues have been from the hrst an indispensable element of the pro- gram of the American public school. We shall continue to employ every means possible to instill high moral principles in our youth of today. We regard this building of strong character in our boys and girls as our most lofty objective, and join in friendly partnership with the home, the church, and all other constructive community agencies to this end. Wlien we build, let us think we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor present use alone. Class of I954, congratulations on a fine year book and on the completion of your high school course. l hope you will continue to move forward, dedicating your lives to the improvement of your own character and to the enrichment of society. Be world builders and benefactors. A man rises to his full stature when he discovers the great truth-l am here not to get but to give. E. E.. Maier? of fha CALM of f 9 4 We started out in l950 as Freshmen with Miss Bertha Schaaf and Miss Elaine Fenner as our advisers. Pat Rattigan very ably served as our first president. In our Sophomore year, Mr. john Colmery and Mr. James Steb- bins helped us in planning our Skating Party and other projects. Rod McGraw was our president. Mr. I-I. R. Troutner and Mr. B. F. Butt were our homeroom teachers in our Junior year. Due to the illness of our president, Jane Bauman, the vice president, Janet Rager, took office during the latter part of the year. The whole class worked very hard to make the ,I-Hop and the Junior-Senior Ball a success. ln our final year as Seniors, Miss Patricia Binding and Mr. H. Kohler were our advisers. Everyone worked to raise a lot of money for our trip to New York. Janet Rager, as the president, kept things moving all the time and helped to make our last year very successful. V, . At some of their meetings they toured the Toledo Public Library and the Blood Center, a teacher from England talked to them on the dif- ference between the teen-agers of England and those of the United States. The 8th grade boys sold pop-corn to earn money for gift boxes: fifteen boxes were sent. The '7 th grade girls made one hundred nut cups for Valentines Day for the Veterans' Hospitals.
