SUPERINTENIIENT CLASS OF 1951 - When we consider your class motto- Always room at the top -l believe it is well to ask, Why is there room at the top? First, let us consider it briefly from the ability standpoint. If those of greatest ability worked to near capacity then they would naturally hold the top positions, but most people are unwilling to do the necessary work, so the lack of ambition on their part provides openings at or near the top for those of lesser ability. Further, l like to think that with the great need for outstanding workers that we compete mostly with ourselves, the openings are there for the asking if we but prepare ourselves. So, to each member of the class of '51, may you point to a brighter, more successful future by always working near your level of ability. G. H. Burns PHlNlIlPllL Dr. Raymond B. Allen, president of the Univer- sity of Washington recently said The noblest end of education is the development of young men and women dedicated to useful lives of self-reliant citizenship and responsible leadership. The task of our schools in Rossford is both to help induct young people into adult-hood in our present society and to help them work toward the improvement of that society. Our schools must de- velop responsible citizens who willingly participate in public affairs and other forms of worthy civic activities. We must continue to develop in our young people the ideals and understanding that will lead them to contribute tothe continuous improve- ment of American life. Edgar E. Andrews
