,Ll G H Burns, Superintendent lt is well that we pause periodically for a briet backward glance at the milestones ot progress in the life of any institution and then, facing forward again, boldly chart a new course tor it in the light of its past experience. On the twenty-fifth birthday oi Rossford High School, we pause for such a review oi the past. While tor most ot us it is difficult to imagine the time when there was no Rossford l-ligh School, its past history is remarkable for things accom- plished rather than ior length of time. ln scholarship its students have always ranked high, and in music and other cultural activities progress has always been upward. The rnany 'trophies won are ample proof ot the excellence of its athletes. As citizens in the community and in the service of our country, Rossiord alumni have set a record that would be hard to match. Turning from the glories ot the past it is my earnest hope that Hosstord High School will continue to progress and the achievements up to this silver anni- versary become a challenge to present, as well as future, students to strive toward even higher goals. To enjoy the freedom ot the sunshine, the germinating seed must litt and throw aside the clod which outweighs it a thousandfold. As you who are of the Class of 1948 enter the portals ot adult life you will hear the siren song of many a false prophet. The burden of their enticing message is that work and performance are the trappings of a decadent, out- moded and discredited era. Be not deceived. Think not so. Without the putting forth of physical and mental effort all men are Weaklings. There is no real happiness save that which results in using one's strength and talents in honest endeavor. As you enter 'the workaday world greet work with a good will. Let no man laugh you out of its benefits. Say to your environs Give me a task worthy of persistent application . Toil saves one from the lite of a parasite, enabling him to pay his own way, at the same time leaving the world brighter and richer because ot his toil.
